absolutely.
i currently fish with a north face bag
it has 3 sections
the front is small and i keep tippet spools and fly boxes in there. i can keep 3 big mono spools and 4-5 fly boxes in there.the next compartment is small. i keep lighter, stogie cutter, spilt shot, swivels, and tipet material in that one.
the next is the main compartment. i keep water, extra layers, food, dslr, and other bulky items in there.
there is a section that velcros to the back that separates for a seat cushion. i keep a home made seine net between that pad and the backpack.
the shoulder straps and hip compression straps both have zipper compartment that can store other chatchkeys
i can also attach my ice axe to the back when going down canyons and hills in the winter.
i wear a lanyard with nippers, hemos, and other gadgets
the bag can be stashed on shore or hung from a tree if i am fishing in the same area
otherwise, it is on my back. if i need to get tippet our flies, i simply connect the waist strap and swing the bag around.
my chest packs and vests are collecting dust in my gear closet.the streams that feed the savage reservoir also have great rainbow and brookie fishing.
i have yet to encounter a stream more treacherous to wade than the savage. those rocks are round and slick.

as for the north branch, paps bait shop is one of the most back woods places i’ve ever seen. when i worked in a fly shop round here, lots of guys said they carried a side arm when fishing up there due to the locals ‘coming out of the woods’ and approaching them

Bedouin Soundclash has been on the ipod a lot recently. Though the guy driving on our trip next week doesn’t have an ipod jack so I’ll be subject to what ever he has in his car. (wife is taking suv to ohio and i don’t want to drive a miata on a fishing trip)
I’ll have a mix of Throwback, Jackopierce, Virgina Coalition, North MS. Allstars, RIDE, and o.a.r. just in case he has installed an aux jack. I’ll bring speakers too so we can watch TV Funhouse season 1 on the itouch while we sip beers at night.

This time of year I’d find myself fishing Big Hunting Creek (BHC) which is a tailwater near Thurmont for half a day and then the native brookie streams that feed the lake where BHC starts. The leaves will be changing.

we were at the ski chalet chantilly sale last week. they are not going to sell arc’teryx anymore so ALL of it was 40% off.
i couldn’t convince the wife to buy a bunch and sell it for $50 more per item or so on ebay.
I have a marmot shell that is top notch. It has all the bells and whistles I like in a shell (articulated hood, pit zips, arm pockets, chest pocket/vent, internal water bottle holder, powder guard, zip in liner)
I can zip in a down vest to keep torso warm yet arms not weighed down or sip in a full fleece.
The thing is, I would not wear it fishing all day in the rain.
Marmot even fixed the broken front zipper (2 times)But the thing is, I would not wear it in an absolute downpour or wading.

the patagonia has some interesting wrist cuffs. they are 1/3 velcro and jacket material and 2/3 latexy material. the tighter you fasten the velcro, the tigher the water seal on your wrist.

no major complaints except for the lack of video quality (outside mostly, works well inside) and the start up which makes it not great for candid shots when you want to capture something at a bar or party before the shenanigans end.
i got it for a great price on ebay. i think that is the best part of it.
the screen has a lot of scratches now, you’d think a camera made to take a beating would have a tougher screen.you can take a loot at some of my pics and vids on my website

what he said.if i’m fishing with my best friend, i’ll call him over and give him a go at the fish. he usually gets the fish with patience, fly choice, presentation
watching that is almost more satisfying that if i had caught the fish.
we’ve also taken pics of where the fish was and left a marker on the stream bank to indicate where the refusal was-then come back later and try at it again.
we only saw one bonefish on our trip. we hung out with some locals who caught one and gutted it on the beach. the stomach was full of nickel sized light pink crabs. this was the best flat
to get there – take the road to the dead end at Anini Beach, Kilauea.
we caught one jack off the beach near barking sands, 4wd is required

we stayed at the madikwe game park on the madikwe river. there were leg length catfish in there that would pound chunks of olive bread tossed to them. all i had was a 7′ 5wt.
go find them and tell me how it goes. the park was top notch too.
i’ll take my pelican case if i’m not walking far
usually my d70 is wrapped in spare clothing and placed in a canoe dry bag which i place in the bottom of my day pack.
