Memberi’ve been tying up a pile of random patterns.
tied a popsicle style fly for the first time/palmered marabou.
quite the pretty pattern though the marabou made a mess in our house (tying table is momentarily the computer desk)i found a box of salmon patterns i tied probably in 2001 that have all sorts of purple, pink, chartruse, fushia (sp?) feathers, rabbit strips, cones, and rubber tails and legs. the fly box looks like clown vomit.
i used to have pink bucktail to tie clousers-it is now where to be found. (i blame the wife)
i’ll try to take pics of them all for this or a post report thread.

google it

Memberbrowns are more tolerant of varied temperatures so fewer rainbows in warmer water
larger browns are caught at night as they are ‘meat eaters’ when they get to a certain size –> bigger streamers for browns day or night
those are two things off the top of my head with out knowing where and when you are fishing etc.

Memberwe just put a 1/6 keg of brooklyn lager in the kegorater. i went with the wife’s choice this time as i usually get less heavy beers for the tap.
not bad.
i had her carry it up the stairs from the lot

i used to work with him in the keys and still hit him up for key (no pun) information for info when i go back down to fish.

Membersomething new/ something different for those fish to see.
in addition, you can always trim it down on the stream if you think its negatively effecting your hook ups. if you start off with not enough you have nowhere to go.

Memberi was fishing an orvis 8′ full flex superfine rod
casting the big streamer with 3 3/0 split shot into a bend –> deep hole on the snake in colorado.i had trees behind me on either side
i chucked the line up and behind me to avoid the willows and the trees and then double hauled the thing forward. the entire setup was just unbalanced and awkward.
i actually saw it go in from the corner of my eye.
here is the other arm from 2001, 1/0 clouser.

MemberI’m working on my own lanyards that i plan to sell on my new site (coming soon)
I’ll share with y’all when i’m past the prototype stage.
my sultry neighbor likes to wear the prototype as a charm bracelet during sundowners. not sure why.

Memberlanyard = making my own and will start to market them soon.
backpack to hold all gear and to use as mother ship. if i can put it down on rock or bank then i’ll put what i need in pockets or small orvis chest pack.

Memberi was fishing solo and had not smashed down the barb. it was in deep.
4x long streamer hook.it was either break my cigar cutter and use the blade to cut it out, rip it out with hemostats with left hand (right handed) or keep it in. i didn’t want to bleed too much or get an infection. my leatherman was at home due to flight restrictions with carry on.
the last two days i’d been fishing with a paramedic, he’d have removed it.
the hospital wouldn’t give me a shot of lidocaine and a scalpel so they admitted me to the ER >:(

Memberi tied a friggin box of hoppers of all sizes from realistic to impressionistic for my colorado trip.
didn’t even get a nod from a single fish. maybe too early in season, bad presentation, etc.
at least i have a whole box of flies for the summer out here 🙂
i’ll have a terrestrial box pic once i upload all my trip pics
