MemberMike,
That is awesome! You might never get a photo of something like that again. Great shot!Andrew Wright
MemberSeth,
Gheenoes are incredible boats. I really would not want to fish out of anything else. That being said, they do have their limitations, just like any other boat. I use my boat in quite a few different situations, but I do find times where I feel like I am pushing the boundaries of how it was meant to be used. Basically, you just need to think really hard about how you will use it. If you are not going to use a trailer, fishing solo is going to be difficult (and it will probably even be difficult with a fishing partner). If you are fishing in areas with strong currents and lots of rocks, it may not hold up to the abuse. There is no question that a Gheenoe or a Riverhawk will open up tons of new fishing opportunities, but depending on how you fish, there may be better options. Based on what you have said so far, I would go with a square stern canoe. If you do wind up getting one though, there is no question that you will be able to find some way to use it and you will really enjoy it.

MemberA few years ago I was on a float with a friend when he dropped his fly rod in the river. After about an hour of searching we finally gave up. His name was on the rod though and two weeks later, he got a phone call from one of the local guides who had seen it on the bottom of the river and recovered it. The wood on the reel seat was swollen and took a month or two to dry out, but he still fishes with it.

MemberCF is my favorite hands down. They work better than anything else I have seen for keeping flies organized and they are more durable than most other boxes. The only complaint I have against them is the price. Most fly fisherman (including myself) seem to have a need/want for multiple boxes that can be used in different scenarios. That being said, I really can’t see spending the money to have every box I own be a CF.
I also agree with Zach that the larger Boxes like the Bugger Beast could be improved upon, especially in the area of waterproofing.

MemberNice job Mickey! Looks great.
Grant,
I am out in it most every weekend. Mostly on the carp flats, but I take it to the upper hooch some and I hit up quite a few lakes for bass as well. I also had it in SC a few weeks ago chasing reds. It has been a great boat.Andrew Wright
MemberAgreed. Very nice browns indeed. Those are healthy fish for a small stream.

MemberI always stay at the Breezy Palms, a.k.a. the Sleazy Breezy… Usually a little over a hundred bucks a night. Right down the road from Bud N’ Mary’s. Never had anything but a good experience.

MemberDan D. Hook us up with a recipe for that fly. That looks really nice!

MemberTyler,
That airborne pic is awesome!Andrew Wright
MemberIn Charleston, the fish seem to go nuts for anything copper/rootbeer colored. I didn’t have a chance to put together a tutorial, but this fly is about as simple to tie and effective as it gets. I almost don’t fish anything else. Tie it both wieghted and unweighted.
Hopefully this link works.

MemberThose are all different fish. We boated around 30 on the first day. None smaller than 15lbs.
