Those are some nice looking flies thanks for posting. What kind of paint/finish did you use to make that shiny black one?

As of right now, I am in for the camping. I dont think I will be able to convince my wife to tag along, but does anyone have a problem with me bringing a buddy (not yet a member of this board) who is new to flyfishing? I feel like it would be a good chance for him to learn with the wealth of knowledge that will be present. Let me know. If we are trying to keep it strictly for members, I will just fly solo.

I am going to try and make it, but there is an outside chance that I will have to be out of town that weekend. If I can make it, I can certainly drive a few as well.

I am up for anything, but I am going to leave the location up to some of you veterans. Either way sounds like a win win situation to me.
I agree with Zach, there are places to fish in Georgia, but there are better places within a reasonable driving distance. Atlanta is a good hub for alot of locations though. I am seriously in if you guys want to try and put something together and don’t mind an IA newbie tagging along. Lets really try and make something happen.

I live in Marietta, Ga. As far as the fishing goes, I will fish for anything that will take a fly. I started out trout fishing, but love the warm water stuff, and head to the salt whenever I get the chance.

I stand corrected. The wording in the title must have been what misled me. Great article, and I apologize for not realizing until after I posted that you were the author. I didn’t really have any trouble figuring it out from your article. It took one or two tries before the twisting method clicked with me, but once I figured it out, I realized how easy these things are to tie. It is an incredibly useful bit of information to have. For big bass flies there isn’t anything better. Thanks for sharing the information.Andrew
The article that Craig mentions from American Angler is an awesome reference to explore the use of furled leaders. To the best of my understanding, the leaders that the author shows you how to tie are not “true” furled leaders, but the concept is the same, and they are incredibly easy and economical to tie using this technique. I have never heard the argument of them being a crutch, but I can say that they will flat turn over a fly, so I dont have a problem with a little extra help here and there.
