This was the second fish I caught on the first rod I built. Was not looking for particularly large fish this day, but this was the smallest. Also, he was caught on a orange post para adams that I tied the night before. First day fishing rods I built and flies I tied. By the way, the first fish on the rod was a one eyed brookie. ::)

Most of June was spent chasing little guys:

Small fish and loving it. Unfortunately, west side Sierra creekiing is shutting down due to water temps and low flows. So I guess I start chasing the bigger fish this weekend 🙂

I have this pic blown up and hanging on the wall to keep me humble.

I hiked into a mountain lake this Saturday with a buddy and his dad. We caught around 200 brookies from about 6-10 inches. The report on this lake from game and fish says that it needs some fish taken out of it because of all of the competition. So we kept about 50 of the little guys. We ate about 20 of them right next to the lake and carried the rest out. They ate them for dinner that night. I didn’t take any fish pictures although I do have a picture of the shredded fly I used all day. It seemed to work for the “dinks”.

I knew someone would ask… I was just reluctant to be the first to confess my ignorance. I want to know too. What is that fish?

I was told this is a rosyside dace. Kinda looks similar to Mike’s….not as brightly colored.

Those are cool pictures. I love the warpaint shiner. I caught one over on the Toccoa in April but he released himself before I could get a picture.
