    Cam,

In case it starts acting crazy….My D70s has been sitting on the shelf since I bought the D90. You’re welcome to use it until you find a more permanent solution.

Glad to hear yours is still alive.

Great photo essay Jennifer/Peter. The pics tell the story without writing a word. I especially like the grill photo…next to last in the series. Nice.

I just received a DSLR case from Aquapac today. I promised an evaluation w/photos. It really looks impressive. Basically a roll top bag with adjustable padding inside. The padding is the adjustable velcro stuff similar to the Pelican case dividers.

    Gear review soon…

    Todd,

I think a nice piece of flyfishing art would be a great idea. Maybe a very colorful framed fish print. Check some of the stuff from Derek Deyoung or A. D. Maddox. Their “fish skin” paintings are very colorful. You could write a nice personal message on the back of the framed print that the child would have for a long time.

Wow….great stuff here. Limited to only one is a tough choice but here’s mine. My youngest son left for Marine Corps boot camp at Parris Island about two weeks after this photo was taken. He was able to fish with his older brother which he had not done a lot. Older brother was heavily involved in athletics and his time was limited. So..all three of us were able to fish together on this trip to AK. The photo was taken on American Creek while they were both preoccupied with fly selection.

Welcome Loren. Zach and Lauren run a top-notch place here and like you’ve mentioned…there is a wealth of information specific to photography and fishing. This is argueably the most informative site on the ‘net that covers this niche.

I’d encourage you to peruse the “search” function here at IA. A lot of very important topics have been covered such as tripods, waterproof cases and backpacks, U/W photography, grip and grins, post-processing….etc.

    Regards….Steve

    Interesting thread!

Question: Wouldn’t an “independent” guide have a price (and profit margin) advantage over a guide that is affiliated with a flyshop? For example, he/she would not have to share a portion of the guide fee with the sponsoring flyshop?

Caveat: Obviously the guide that is affiliated with a flyshop has an instant network of potential clients. I’m assuming he/she is also covered under the shop’s liability insurance….or does a signed waiver make this moot?
