Well, from the beginning it was always a debate with the subject — Smugmug or Photoshelter? I originally went with Smugmug due to the price. It was OK. With some Christmas money I made the plunge into Photoshelter with the motivation of some other fellows on this board. With some pointers from Kurt Budliger, I have the site running. I don’t have all my galleries and pages finished quite yet, but am happy with the CSS work I’ve done. http://theflyphoto.com

I would love to hear feedback. All I can say is that I feel so much more confident when it comes to promoting my photography! I’m looking forward to 2011.

    Looks nice Matt.

I agree it looks very nice.

    To me PS seems expensive.
I pay around $140 a year for a site (not photography) with a dedicated ip, SSL and 150 gig of space. Am I far off in my assumption that you could learn flash or hire someone to do the flash and come out much cheaper by doing your own hosting?

Looks good Matt, glad I could provide some assistance.

    Looks really nice, Matt.

I just finished the move to Photoshelter as well. Do you have the Fotoquote licensing turned on for your images?

After consulting with a number of hook and bullet photogs that were already there, I decided to toggle mine on at 100% rates along with them. Not sure if we’ll get many buyers, but at least it’s a show of pricing solidarity within the hunting and fishing photo industry.

Next for me, is switching my existing web platform over to Graph Paper Press so I can meld in the stock archive. Still not sure which theme to go with. Some of them have a lot of clutter.

From what Im seeing it looks fairly similiar to zenfolio. In the process myself of revamping it from a pure host, removing the zen branding and using my own domain etc, fun fun fun.

Tosh, I haven’t finished my uploads to photoshelter yet. I don’t even have anything linked PS yet. What you are seeing is strictly the blog portion of the move.

As far as Graph Paper Press goes, you have the option to turn the clutter areas on/off as you please. You could simply have a slideshow and menu just like your previous home page. Now that I know my way around (thanks Kurt!) I can answer any questions if you have any.

Matt….I like the layout and ease of navigation. I got all excited when I saw the underwater portfolio….but only found the one photo 🙁 Can’t wait till you get all your photos on there. Thanks for sharing!
