Patagonia has a truly waterproof backpack – the Stormfront pack: http://www.patagonia.com/us/product/patagonia-stormfront-waterproof-pack-fly-fishing?p=49152-0-950

It’s a bit pricey, but one of the few truly waterproof packs that is not a roll top.

I am very interested in the stormfront pack…what is the insert situation for storing camera, lenses, and accessories?

Also would those straps that look to be designed for holding a rod tube work well for a compact tripod?

One thing I noticed is that unlike the simms bag the stormfront doesn’t have a compatible waterproof chest pack for keeping a fly box and nippers handy. Maybe a different waterproof chest pack could be home rigged to work with it?

    Loren,

With the included padded insert, the material on the bag that supports the rod tube straps is rather loose.

I just received a DSLR case from Aquapac today. I promised an evaluation w/photos. It really looks impressive. Basically a roll top bag with adjustable padding inside. The padding is the adjustable velcro stuff similar to the Pelican case dividers.

    Gear review soon…
