The entire 4 days of fishing was some of the best streamer fishing I’ve ever had and in fact was the best 4 days of fishing I’ve ever had in Montana.

    John,

Though I think Yellowstone is a very cool place I don’t quite share the same love for it the rest of the gang does for one simple reason…too many people. Missoula is a great area that is WAY cheaper than Bozeman and has tons of fun stuff to keep both you and your wife busy with plenty to do. Missoula has great farmers markets on the weekends and outside events weekly at Caras Park down town. You can check out the Missoula Chamber of Commerce website to see all of the stuff that will be going on over the summer. Here is that link. http://www.missoulachamber.com/

Now for fishing….you are literally MINUTES away from the Clark Fork, Blackfoot, and Bitterroot Rivers. You are just around an hours drive from the North Fork of the Blackfoot, West Fork of the Bitterroot, and the East Fork of the Bitterroot. AND if you like lake fishing there are a ton of them! Some you can drive to other you would have a nice hike to.

Missoula is also only a 2.5 hour drive to Glacier National Park which in my opinion is far superior. As a photographer you would lose yourself there in a heart beat and though it does have bears the Human conflicts with humans are much less frequent than in Yellowstone.

John if you need more details feel free to email me with anything you would like to know and I will be happy to help any way I can.

Guys I had the privilage of meeting and talking with Derek last night at a Simms event in Bozeman. What a great guy! He is the kind of guy you could sit down and talk with for hours. He is very passionate about his work and fishing. Great guy for sure and his work is even more amazing in person.

Darryl if you are fishing the Gunnison with a guide I would highly recommend a guide by the name of Nicolas Gibb. Great person and a really good guide. I will see if I can hunt down his contact info and PM it to you.

Greg McKee would get my vote to hire as a guide. He is a member of the board here and I think he is a good dude that would work hard for you. Just my two bits though…

in reply to: Video In Issue 5 Of Catch Magazine #35678

I agree that its a great video, but I somewhat disagree about getting more information.  I really liked the video as is, and as much as I would love to know where they were fishing so I could go there myself, I think the lack of information actually adds to the video.  I also think it portrays a message of getting out there and finding your own place like that…off the beaten path, unpopulated, gorgeous scenery, and great fishing.

As for the location, one of the fish it shows is a bull trout.  From the information I’ve seen they are only found in Montana, Idaho, Oregon, Washington and a tiny spot in Nevada.  Chasing down some bull trout is definitely on my fishing bucket list; they look like really cool fish and will absolutely demolish streamers.  I definitely agree that it’s a really good video clip.  Looks like an amazing place.

    -Tim

I agree with Tim 100% on this one. I think the mystery of not knowing where they are adds to the film. It all so adds to your day dreams for that matter.

It could be in Canada too Tim. Lots of Bull Trout north of the boarder.

I was uploading some pictures from one of my cameras today and came across this photo and had to add it to this post. Not a chip you see everyday, but I have to admit they were pretty darn good.
