Joel…what the heck?  I was slacking big time on that.  Next time…

    Beer is food….right?

in reply to: A Week With Mr. Troutaholic #53810

Cam, there is no food shot! Considering the fact you sorta started that around here that is a big miss!

There’s a surprising number of trout/fly fishing related beers. I think I’m going to have to source some – any that come particularly highly recommended?

Yes, Double Haul IPA by Kettlehouse brewing company, Trout Slayer by Big Sky brewing, and Dances with Trout by Bayern

Corey, you should add the picture of why you were NOT able to join us for our hike up River X. Still bummed about that!

It was a great trip indeed, Cam. A wide variety of weather from tee shirt days to layer up and with that came a wide variety of fishing. One thing that was a constant was good beer and plenty of laughes.

This is some video I shot during the week. Still figuring out things when it comes to video and editing so go easy on me…

Good stuff as always, Tim! Wish I could afford a trip back this year. Instead I will be living through you and my other mates down there so post often!

I hunt for pheasant and grouse mostly. Those are the birds I enjoy eating the most. I hunt with the black lab in the picture. Mac does a great job and LOVES hunting birds!

Good stuff gentlemen! Zach, I am really glad you asked the question to compare the fast action glass to a fast action graphite. Having fished with Cam many times I always chuckled when he would have me check out the “fast action” glass rod he was fishing. All said though, I have really grown to enjoy fishing glass from time to time.

I would agree with Corey on the Hyjack shoe. I also use Keen sandals depending on where I am going.

As for pants go I use a variety of Simms pants but my absolute favorites are the Patagonia Gi III pants. http://www.patagonia.com/us/product/patagonia-mens-gi-iii-pants-34-inch-inseam-sun-protection?p=55030-0-176 they fit great and dry super fast.

An awesome write up, and awesome country.  Looks like you guys had a great time Joel!

We had a great time, Justin! Pretty sure it is a trip you would enjoy as well.

in reply to: Slough Creek #53504

    Hey All!

We did a recent trip in to Slough Creek as might have read in the recent post by Zach. It was pretty cool that we ended up being able to some beers with Zach and Ian. What are the odds? Anyhow I wanted to share with everyone here the write up and pictures that fellow board member, Ed Felker posted on his blog. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did. It was a great trip and I think Ed captured it well in both his words and pictures. You can read and see it here.

Holy crap! I need to learn how to write. Sorry for all the missing words. I tweaked my back pretty bad on a river trip I had the other day and am on muscle relaxants. Guess it affected that big muscle between my ears…

Great meeting up with you and Ian, Zach. The second meadow is worth the hike by the way!

Dry fly, Mike? Where’s the bugger?

in reply to: Gopro Hero 2 camera #52393

I have one and love it , Eric. I have been very impressed with the quality of the video. The one thing you should know is when the camera is in the housing the sound quality is going to suffer a ton. The other thing for me personally is the amount of time it takes to edit video and learning how to use the software…make sure you have some time to kill!

Me too me too!  I wanna take cool photos of myself in a cool hat!  Where do I get one?  If it has to ship to Rio Pico it just goes to:

    Justin Witt – Rio Pico

We don’t have street names or nuthin’…

And that dude at the post office knows me.

Everyone in Rio Pico knows you, Justin! 🙂

Neal, only a city boy would ride a horse with shorts on! How chaffed were your legs after that ride?
