Zach I am note sure if this quote above was intentional, but it sure put a smile on my face this morning!

Joel ThompsonMemberThanks for that carp in sight Zach! I have spent my whole life pretty much just focused on trout. Just in the past few years have I explored catching other types of fish. Kind of sad, in a way, that it has taken me this long! I will add Carp to my list of fish to go after because from your description it sounds like good fun!

Joel ThompsonMemberGlad to hear the phone number worked out for you! I have gotten to know a few of the people who work at Simms this past year and I know the pride they take in their customer service. Let me know if you need help with any other fishing companies. I have tons of contact numbers!

Joel ThompsonMemberIt’s sort of funny to hear you guys talk about fishing for carp. Not something that is really done hear in Montana. Most people view them as trash fish. The only time I have ever seen someone actually going after carp was to shoot them with an arrow using a compound bow.
So I have to ask…are they worth fishing for?

Joel ThompsonMemberThose are great mending machine! I especially like the one about driving off the road while scoping out a new section of river. I haven’t actually driven off the road, but got damn close a few times!

Joel ThompsonMemberWow Zach! If I’d have known there was going to be hamburgers, hot dogs and beer I would have worked a lot harder trying to get you to come up north!
Joel ThompsonMemberGreat pictures Zach! I especially like the parking lot camp out. What was up with that???
I also found it very interesting that you guys started fishing so early. In Montana this time of year you really need to wait until things warm up a little before the fishing gets good. Probably not going to happen this week. It was 2 below zero here this morning and we have six inches of snow on the ground from the night before. I guess it’s time to start thinking about ice fishing!
Joel ThompsonMemberSimms toll free number is 1-888-549-8333. Like I said before, nothing beats talking to someone in person.

Joel ThompsonMemberAll of my experiences with Simms have been nothing, but great! If you really want a reply fast you should try calling them. Nothing takes care of a problem faster then taking to someone directly about it. Let me know if you need the number as have it some where in my files.

Joel ThompsonMemberHey Zach! Looking forwared to the Bitchin Brown Trout photos! I really love the color of those fish this time of year.
Hey what are these podcasts and how do I get them? It sounds like they are quite popular, so I would like to check them out.
Congrats on winning your case!

Joel ThompsonMemberHey Mending Machine!
What’s the guys name? I know he is fairly new there and have not met him as of yet. I would like to meet the guy. Always looking for locals to fish with. Plus I would like to see if he might be interested in a summer job.
Are you a teacher as well?
Joel ThompsonMemberTurner????? Are you kidding, that guy would get strung up in these parts! No the ranch is owned by a gentleman by the name of Bill Foley. Good guy. The type of guy who doesn’t ever cut corners.

Joel ThompsonMemberActually Pancho I am going to be hiring some people next spring. I am going to be needing people to help me with the fly shop we will be opening up as well as some guides. I’m really going to be looking for well rounded people. The perfect person for the job will be someone who could work in the fly shop one day, take people fishing the next, maybe a hike the day after that or maybe even a little bird hunt. Right now I do it all because we are still in the building stages of the ranch. However, I see next summer being way more busy so I will be looking for that right person over the winter.
Why? Are you interested?

Joel ThompsonMemberHey Troutwag!
I guide for a big ranch just outside of Deer Lodge MT. called Rock Creek Cattle Company. It’s an 80,000 acre ranch that is building an eighteen hole golf course and a small developement. I take members of the ranch all over western Montana. My favorite river being the Blackfoot. We also have a small creek that runs through our property called Rock Creek that we just finished doing restoration to and is now starting to hold some really nice fish. I am the fishing guide and director of outdoor activities, so my job is very deverse. Some days I take people on hikes the next we might go fishing or shooting trap and sporting clays. Pretty darn fun job. Some days I can’t believe they pay me for it!

Joel ThompsonMemberThanks for the offer on the long bow lessons Pancho. Maybe we should try and have a guys week here in Montana with some of the guys here on the post! Zach can teach us to be better casters, you can teach us how to shoot a long bow, and I can show you guys some of the most beautiful places in western Montana.
Joel ThompsonMemberWow Graham! Those are some HUGE brown trout!! What the hell are they feeding those things in NY? They must have some high in fat bugs flying around to make those big boys so FAT!
