Bring plenty of layers and a good rain coat and make sure you bring one more case of beer than you think you will need. 🙂
As for flies go… Salmon flies, Golden Stones, and your basic caddis and may fly patterns will work great but make sure you have buggers and streamers. The Brown in the Smith love them. A good crayfish pattern is a good bet as well.

Steve, I looked at the oar rights a couple times. Mentioned them to my son (the MT fishing guide) last week and he mumbled something like “learn to row” and “they have no place on a wood driftboat.” Obviously, I’m now shamed into trying to get my rubber stops back on.
Michael, I agree 100% with your son. You will be able to do a lot more strokes and be a better rower as a result.

Absolutely, Matt. I have Sawyer Dynalites and hate rowing anything else. They will save your shoulders a lot of pain and suffering. Be prepared to spend some money when you upgrade as they don’t give good sticks away but I think they are worth every penny. I have them for my drift boat and my raft.

Great fish report Joel!!! You’re right, everyone should experience Argentina at least once in their lifetime. Sorry to hear about your gear/baggage issues. Did you fly into, change airports, and out-of B.A. the same day?
Douglas, BA has two airports. One international and one domestic and they are on opposite sides of town from each other. Not a big deal if you have plenty of time but because we had to mess around with filing a claim for our luggage our extra time was gone. Even though our Taxi driver drove like a mad man and we were there 45 minutes before our flight was to leave it was not enough time. Security lines are long and the people at the airlines would not give us boarding passes as a result. (We have a sneaky suspicion that they sold our seats)
In the end it all worked out and we had a great time and will always have a story to tell. That is what it’s all about, right?

I completely disagree with the ugly comments. Part of owning a boat is making it your own. Some want plain Jane, others want to bling it up a bit. I fall under the bling category and get tons of compliments when people see my boat on the river. Like I said a year ago in this thread, there is no better drift boat on the river in my opinion.

Well we canceled the trip. The outfitter simply cannot move around without gas, and food is becoming scarce as well. Will try to reschedule for earlier in the season next year…maybe December or early January.
As we sayaround here…..this is a wicked bummah! :-[
Goodluck Moosedog…hopefully your trip will still come off okay.My trip is still a go! Wild dogs couldn’t keep me away at this point. Plus, I will be in the good hands of Justin Witt. Should be an epic trip!
