    Folks-

Lucky me a friend in Bozeman drew a tag to float the Smith River this year.

I have always heard that basic bugger patterns and JJ’s were the staple since there are mostly 12-20″ browns there.

I would probably take a rig with some Koffman’s stones and san juans (aka “the turd and the worm”) as well if you like to watch the bobber.

Oh and dont forget frosty beverages

Bring plenty of layers and a good rain coat and make sure you bring one more case of beer than you think you will need. 🙂

As for flies go… Salmon flies, Golden Stones, and your basic caddis and may fly patterns will work great but make sure you have buggers and streamers. The Brown in the Smith love them. A good crayfish pattern is a good bet as well.
