Work seems to be monitoring my online activities so not a lot of narrative to share right now but thought I’d post a few Instagram photos (Some iPhone/Some Nikon DSLR) from a week in Montana with best friends Mike and David and with Joel Thompson, Mr. Troutaholic, as our host and guide.

Great times were had, a few rivers floated, a couple places hiked into, fish caught, tasty meals eaten, and many (maybe to many?) Doublehaul IPA’s drank.  I can’t wait to do it all over again.

    A proper welcome to Montana.

Hike in water and well worth the trouble getting there.

Of course I fished glass the entire trip.

    Dry fly eater.

Feeding the monster over a cup of coffee.

It snowed one morning which was a great surprise.

I killed it on whitefish the entire trip.

Gear porn.  Abel Classic on a Graywolf Rods 905-3.

A days worth of empties of which most were David’s.  It was his birthday.

    Even BWO’s dig Doublehaul IPA.

Private water…that everyone but Joel and David (who were fishing together) got blanked on.

Redemption on Willow Creek.  This brown pounded a streamer.

En route home on the first flight out of Missoula.

Thanks again Joel.  We had a better than great time.  I’m hoping to get back out sooner than later.

Hopefully Mike and Joel will contribute a few images and even a video to this thread.

I posted a few reports on TFM with more photos and narrative if you’d like to give them a look.

Nice report and pictures Cameron. I miss Montana something awful. Well done.

It was a great trip indeed, Cam. A wide variety of weather from tee shirt days to layer up and with that came a wide variety of fishing. One thing that was a constant was good beer and plenty of laughes.

This is some video I shot during the week. Still figuring out things when it comes to video and editing so go easy on me…

    Good stuff fellas! 🙂

Corey, you should add the picture of why you were NOT able to join us for our hike up River X. Still bummed about that!

There’s a surprising number of trout/fly fishing related beers. I think I’m going to have to source some – any that come particularly highly recommended?

Yes, Double Haul IPA by Kettlehouse brewing company, Trout Slayer by Big Sky brewing, and Dances with Trout by Bayern

Great pics, looks like an amazing trip. Not only does MT have great scenery, but I am always amazed at how much cheaper beer is there than here in SC…

Joel…I dig the video a lot.

Cam, there is no food shot! Considering the fact you sorta started that around here that is a big miss!

Joel…what the heck?  I was slacking big time on that.  Next time…

    Beer is food….right?
