It’s not too much time on our hands, it’s that the chart shows both the denial of service attack the Zach mentions, but also the effects of the midweek denial of fishing attacks most of seem to suffer. Come the weekend, it looks like most of us hitting the water somewhere. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Neal,

This will be my first filter bottle. The Seychelle filter systems have been tested and used by many different groups including British Supreme Commandos, Sheriff Dept Employees & SAR groups among others.

Personally, the only issue I see with them is an accidental dunking of the entire bottle. That would expose the mouth piece to the unfiltered water. But this happens with camelbacks as well. I know because I have gone in over my waders with the tube clipped to my shirt. I think I will be comfortable using it on small streams and such, but on bigger waters, I will possibly comtinue using the bladder in the vest and try to keep the tube clipped near my shoulder.

I know several fly fishers who use filter bottles exclusively. I also keep in my gear bag a Katadyn Hiker Pro filter pump. Check out the Seychelle data pages. Pretty impressive, especially compared to other brands. Though I am fairly certain the others will do the job. Of course, I am a graphic arts prepress tech, not a water filtration expert. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I carry a 1 liter camelback bladder in the back of my vest. But, last night I ordered a water filter bottle. Another board I post on had a discussion of water bottles and such recently. One of the members has been testing and using a water filter bottle from a company called Seychelle Water Filtration. He clips the empty bottle to his belt, then just dips the bottle in the stream, replaces the cap and drinks. Then poors the unused water back out. That way he’s not carrying the water and it’s always cold and he does not run out. No pump to carry either.

I ordered one for myself, and am looking forward to testing it. From the info I’ve gathered, no one seems to make a better filter system. I am not sure if this helps or not, but it seems like it would be easier to carry/clip an empty bottle than a full one. There are others making similar bottles, but it does look like these may be the best.

PS โ€” The bottle I ordered, and the one recommended to me was the 24 oz. Flip Top Advanced.

Great post Cameron. Love the matched sticks too. Look sweet with the Martin reels. And the little Zebco is sweet. Looks like you may a fishing partner for a good while. Good for you both. ๐Ÿ™‚

PS – I’ve still not been able to build that glass rod yet, but the Honey colored Lamiglas is the likely blank. Just finished a pair of 2 wt rods, got two more of those to build then it’s time to build one for me again. Hope to have them all done by Labor Day. Thanks again for the heads up on those blanks.

Nice, Andrew. It’s hard to do better than befriending a dog. Certainly the most loyal friend most people could ever imagine. I had to say goodbye to mine a few years back. Rough time that. :'( Your love for your dog is pretty obvious. That’s as it should be, of course. Love the pic, too. Good for you on letting your pop have time with your buddy.

Darrin: Thanks .. Your friends will have a ball! Hands down one of ( if not the ) best FF experiences I have had. Thanks for the compliment on the pic of the blue.. It was a little unnerving to put my hand underwater with agitated sharks, but you only live once, right? There were blues around and they wanted to take the fly, but Conway wanted us on the makos!

Cool. Funny you mention the UW shot. One of the guys going is known on another board for his UW shots of trout and macro shots of the fishes eyes. I told him he should leave the UW shots to someone else. I am picturing a shot of a Mako’s eye from like ten feet away. ;D

I am sure the Makos are more exciting to catch and all. It’s just that Blues are about the most graceful looking fish I’ve ever seen. And the deep blue color is incredible. I’ll have to link this for my friends to check out. I am sure it will get some juices flowing for their trip.

Glad to hear that worked out Corey. I’ve a couple of friends who are doing that with either Conway or Dave Trimble in a few weeks. Hope it works out for them. Ever since I heard the podcast Zach did, I have been wanting to try that. Hopefully, one day I will be able to. Looks like a blast.

I am checking out your flickr streamโ€ฆthat Blue is incredible. I was going to ask if got into those as well. Blues are easily my favorite shark. Great pics. ๐Ÿ™‚

Very nice, Paul. I’ve been doing a lot of that sort of fishing myself lately. Small creeks in the Sierras for brookies and ‘bows. Looks like a real nice gem you’ve got there. Brookies are my favorite (unless some other trout is at the end of my line) and I’ve chased them each of the last Saturdays. They can be so very eager to take a dry. ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for taking us along.

    Hey Zach,

I had some trouble logging in. The Login button and the links on the Home Page would not work. I had to go to the Register page, then use the Login button there. When clicking the others, there was no response.

This last one is of one Brookie attacking another while I was landing it this past Saturday. And pics 2, 3, & 4 are the same fish. My favorite fish from last Sat. ;D

Let’s see, I use premium in my pickup or else it knocks/pings under load. May 21st I paid $4.16/gallon. This morning, 19 days laterโ€ฆ$4.70/gallon. $.54 per gallon increase in 19 days. I still went fishing this weekend, but I went with some friends and we split the gas. Will go fishing if I have to skip lunches to pay for the gas. I spent more time recovering physically than earning the money for gas.

I must say that is certainly how all finals should be. Gotta love how the Pens kept trying right to the last. It was pretty obvious how little energy they had, but they still never gave up. The Wings pretty much dominated tonight and still it was just a one goal game. ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Love it. Greatest team sport going chasing the best trophy in the world. ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’d been wondering about that myself. But is it the line burning the guides or maybe the dirt I’ve heard this line can hold in its textured surface? I’ve not used it myself though I know a few who like it. I’ve not heard them speak ill of it as yet. :-/ :-/

Well, being a hockey fan from way back whose team pretty much sucks(Kings), I must say that was some of the best hockey I’ve seen in years! It was pretty obvious there in the 3rd OT how fatigued they all were, but I love that no one seemed to give up. Games like that are one of the things I love most about hockey. Never give up, play till it’s over, grunt & grind hockey. Personally I would like to see the Wings take this but I am stoked to see the Pens fighting for it. The Wings seem the better team, but the Pens did not believe it last night. Great game. And Fleury was phenomenal in that game.

I don’t know from Shoal Bass, are they the same thing as Redeye Bass? I understand you have those in Georgia or what may be a new strain which is undergoing study.
