MemberI think it’s for two flies, but still a bit steep. I plan on beginning fly tying this winter at some point, so if these keep working for me, I’ll be tying some for myself. Or I’ll be looking for standard Copper Johns for much cheaper, which should be much easier to find.
The fly has produced the few times I’ve used it though.

MemberGood fish, 6 wt rod, 6x tippet, Tungsten Bead Head Rubber Leg Copper John. A friend found it at Cabelas website. I knew I had bought them there, but had not found them when looking later.
Thanks Spencer.

MemberWow! Fantastic shots there John. Lately I have been enthralled by the Bird Photography on Dgrin.com, in the Nature/Wildlife section. Last thing I expected to find here, though the quality of the photography does not surprise me in the least.
Thanks for these.

MemberWell, in California we generally call them squirrels. But, while not having tried them myself, I have heard that squirrel backstrap is pretty good. I even have a recipe somewhere.
And no, we do not usually eat them, and most people seem to wince when I suggest it.

MemberI am definitely addictied to Mac. Unfortunately my G4 Quicksilver fell behind the curve this time out, it can’t run the new OS. So I just ordered a new MacBook to be delivered on Friday. ;D
Can’t wait for it to get here. I’m won’t stay home from fishing to play with it this weekend though. 🙂

MemberYou can also download the Windows Media Player 9. I know it works in Mac OS X 10.4.11, which i am using. The Flip4Mac thing should work though, I believe.

MemberI keep coming back to this thread. I’m still not sure what to say. I keep looking at that Brown and your wife and her smile and then I smile and DAMN that’s a big Brown. 🙂 And let’s not forget, it’s also got some very pretty colors. You should have put yours first when you posted though. Yours is a fish, which on any other day, would likely be the biggest fish caught, most places anyway. Still, they are both impressive fish. 🙂 🙂 🙂

MemberYou don’t want those. Uh, send them all out here to California. I’m sure we could find some water to, uh, dispose of them in. 🙂

MemberOne of the guys in my Fly Fishing Club actually had the line cut his finger while casting. A little too much friction I think. 🙁

MemberDave, I will admit up front here that I may act completely differently, when & if, I ever catch a trout of comparable size. That said, I think that qualifies as a Trout of lifetime for most Trout fishermen. Barring Steelhead and Salmon, which really should be taken on their own terms, I seriously doubt a very high percentage of us will get a fish of that size. We all know they are out there waiting to be found, but most waters have very few. All of which is fine. Personally, I don’t want it to be easy all the time, and lately I’ve not been dissapointed. The challenge is part of why we obsess over this sport, IMO.
Again, I say very well done. And yes, I remember the other monster Brown you posted of recently. 🙂
Of course I could be wrong. Maybe I’ll get one this weekend. Hell, why not three?
Darrin Terry
MemberThat’s the sauce I’m talkin bout. ;D
I don’t know Dave. She looks plenty big to me. Of course the biggest I’ve landed was a 14 inch ‘Bow in May of this year. I wish you many more tho. Sometimes the details make the fish. And again, in no way does that thing look small to me. 🙂 🙂
Thanks for the pic & story.

MemberWow Dave! That is one massive, square tailed Brown. How about some details? Need a bit o flava to go with a fish like that. 🙂 ;D

Hey Zach, think maybe the Introduce yourself:

thread on intros could be made a sticky. So it does not get lost in the shuffle. I notice its dropped to the 3rd page. Seems like something that should be kept near the top. Just an idea…

MemberHe’s a great guest Zach. I am looking forward to this one. I listen to a couple other podcasts on flyfishing and, well all three are really good. Anyway, one of them has had Jason on three times now. He is asked back at the end of each show, simply because they just can’t seem to get thru all of the questions. There have not been many people I have heard speak whom the term ‘Font of knowledge’ applied, but he surely seems to be one of them.
Making up for lost time, aren’t you? That’s what, three recorded in a week or so? Cool. Keep ’em coming. There is so much for us beginners to absorb. 🙂

PS – Oh yeah, his book on casting is pretty good too. I ordered it thru his website earlier this summer. It’s full of helpful information.

MemberWow! I never imagined…that is to say I’ve only dreamed of catching a fish like…Wow! 😮 ;D
Nice Browns Dave. Nice beard too, never mind what Cameron says, he don’t know. 🙂

(if ever there was a time for a smiley that drooled…those Browns would be the occasion)

MemberLooks like the fish is going ‘Ahhh’ while looking at that rod. If you’d had some Carp, you might have had some going ‘Ooooh’ too. 🙂
Nice looking pond. I still have not fished still waters much, but it looks pretty fishy to me, too. Must be nice to have a family pond to fish.
