The Itinerant AnglerHey guys –
I am altering this thread to bring you the usual Sunday preview.

Jason Borger has lived fly-fishing’s version of the star-crossed life. As the son of Gary Borger, Jason grew up fishing around the world in some of the most appealing places imaginable. Though he could have taken it all for granted, he never lost his love of fishing and, especially, fly-casting; a fact which paid off handsomely when Robert Redford came calling with a little job for Jason: stunt-doubling for Brad Pitt in A River Runs Through It.

MemberHe’s a great guest Zach. I am looking forward to this one. I listen to a couple other podcasts on flyfishing and, well all three are really good. Anyway, one of them has had Jason on three times now. He is asked back at the end of each show, simply because they just can’t seem to get thru all of the questions. There have not been many people I have heard speak whom the term ‘Font of knowledge’ applied, but he surely seems to be one of them.
Making up for lost time, aren’t you? That’s what, three recorded in a week or so? Cool. Keep ’em coming. There is so much for us beginners to absorb. 🙂

PS – Oh yeah, his book on casting is pretty good too. I ordered it thru his website earlier this summer. It’s full of helpful information.

True story: Lauren and I bumped into Letterman in the Sheridan, Montana coffee shop, just down the road from Twin Bridges.
A more general question on bumping into famous folks:
did you say hi or do you just eye ball him?Oct 6, 2007 at 10:06 pm #20033jason_borger
MemberHi everyone,
I figured that since the Podcast is going live on Monday, I’d stick my head in and see what else Zach had going on with the rest of his site…
First of all, thanks for the interview, Zach. It was a good time, and I appreciate it. Hope we get to actually do some fishing together (versus just talking fishing).
I do hope that the Podcast is at least entertaining. 30 minutes fly by pretty fast, and the thing felt like it was over barely after it began!
Darrin, Neal, Andrew–Thank you for the kind comments. It is good to hear that the book (etc.) has actually been useful in the real world. And Andrew, yes, there is something in the works that addresses both of your concerns about Nature. It’s a ways off, but definitely moving ahead. I also wanted to get more into Nature (especially more Spey/Spey-related skills and more complete modular integration), but time ran out.
Drifter–The old guy does indeed look like Letterman (some of his students used to call him Prof. Letterman). In fact, he’s been on the show in a “rigged” look-a-like contest. When he came on stage, he did a pantomimed fly cast, which likely went right on past about 99.99 percent of viewers…
“Talk” to you all on Monday, and thanks again, Zach!
My best,
Jason Borger
