    I lawn casted the new SA’s Sharkskin line today.
    It was a WF5 and boy does it cast!

    The line is:
    * very soft
    * no memory at all!
    * the line glides down the eyes like a slippery snake!
    * the noise it makes when running through the eyes is pretty annoying.
    * the diameter of the line feels a bit thicker than SA’s regular WF5

    I have no idea if the line floats well and how it will handle warm weather conditions.

    I think i’ll wait and see how the line behaves during real fishig conditions. The price is just too steep to buy one as a lawn casting line.

    Anyone else fished it already?

    I got to cast the 7wt. line on a Z, and wasn’t too impressed. The shoots nicely, but I didn’t like the feel of the line. Wouldn’t want to fish streamers with it. I too also did not cast it on the water, so don’t know how much this line will float better.

    I think the Sharskin on the line probably will open the skin on the fore finger when fishing stripping line with streamers?

    One of the guys in my Fly Fishing Club actually had the line cut his finger while casting. A little too much friction I think. 🙁

    I fished the SA Sharkskin in WF4F on a Sage 490-4 XP last weekend.

    It is an excellent line, the noise goes away in 5-10 minutes and it makes much less noise when wet vs. fly shop parking lot/grass casting.  The textured surface also feels different when wet.

    The line does float higher and is easier to lift from the water surface.

    When the water logged leader pulls the tip under, a quick wipe with paper towel will enable the tip to float for another hour.

    I cast the line with emergers, nymphs & split shot and streamers,,,,,,it is a similar taper to the original Mastery Distance line (pre XPS GPS, XXD etc).   SA will introduce DT, Nymph and other tapers in due time.

    The line excells at mending and easy effortless pickup & casting, this is more important to me than distance.

    Is the line worth $100 retail, for me yes, if it will give us 3x life compared to the other high end lines (presently at $65 retail).

    Regards,
    FK
