    Hey boys –

    Conversation with Phil Monahan, as those of you who have heard his podcast interview know, can often turn somewhat interesting.

    4) Put saltine crackers and a ton of Cavender’s Original Greek Seasoning (available at Wal-Mart and made in Harrison, Arkansas) into a gallon Ziploc bag;

    Another tip, throw out the big yellow thing of Cavender’s you’ve had forever and go buy the kind in the blue container, add a little sea salt and you’re good to go..

    Whew! I thought you were talking about treed rabbits and thought I’d missed something  🙂

    The hunt: pretty sporting with a .22 pistol

    Menu suggestion: pot pie

    Preparation: squirrel is pretty tough meat, so a marinade overnight or stew makes it better.

    In Alabama, they are commonly referred to as Limb Chickens

    In the Northeast, we call them bushy-tailed rats… they live off garbage.

    In AK we call them annoying

    Well, in California we generally call them squirrels. But, while not having tried them myself, I have heard that squirrel backstrap is pretty good. I even have a recipe somewhere.

    And no, we do not usually eat them, and most people seem to wince when I suggest it.
    🙂
