    Zach, what about lenok?

in reply to: Tamen coming to the states? #41085

I would not like to see that happen.  There is no such thing as a controlled state.  Once it gets out into mother nature, there is no controlling it.  Just my 2 cents.

yeah the more i think about it the more i agree. i do think that they would be fun but i dont want to play mother nature

cole, i will be a tulsa native the end of next week. if you are interested i can let you cast it next week. it looks new with very light soiling on the grip.

In the past Loomis made Winston and Tom M’s blanks. With the Shimano purchase I don’t know if that is still going on but I would suspect that they might be making theirs as well.

in reply to: Winston IM6 vs Winston WT #40852

I felt like the IM6’s were a tad softer.

I had a 8′ 4wt IM6 from the 80’s and my buddy had a 8′ 4wt WT from 2000 or so and his seemed to do nymphs a little better.

I know that loomis was making their blanks for a while but im not sure when

A new(er) truck that doesn’t burn oil like the old truck

You should be fine with rods and reels. Flies on the other hand can go either way.

I generally check mine to avoid the hassle, but I also always take lures with trebles so they might be a little dicier.

In the past I have carried on a 2pc rod with no complaints but I now generally take a cordoura rod tube (that holds 5 rods) and my patagonia green boat bag (with reels, 1 change of clothes and camera) and check the rest (forceps, knives, flies, lures, nippers etc…)

I think that the less you carry the less hassle you will experience.

I might also consider UPS’ing your stuff down there a week before.

thanks brett, maybe i need to stick with rowing the boat

That is what I innitally thought but it is not in context

Thanks for the suggestions.  Adam, I worked on a variation of the Stealth Bomber this past summer.  It fished great in still water situations, but seemed to get rolled over easily and stuck beneath the surface in even moderate currents.  I was tying 2mm foam over a Z-lon body, any suggestions to beef up the floatability would be welcomed.  Zach, you’re right about the PT’s, I hammer fish year-round with ’em.  I’ll give the Trout Crack a try, all the other suggestions are stand-bys I already tie and fish.  Dave, unfortunately the only opportunity to gaze at snow bunnies is on my way back to the truck at 8 am.  By the way, I can’t help but notice all the Atlanta and Marietta members on this board.  I was born and raised just outside of the Marietta square, and would love to hook up with some of you Georgia boys if you’re ever in the Boone area.  Look me up at http://www.foscoefishing.com

I haven’t experienced that, and i have fished it on the hooch and the flint a good bit. I would use a dropper though (bugger variation) and tie the stealth bombers bigger than average. Gamakasu 2/0 EWG hooks without the worm hump work well for a variety of species.

Eric, I hate to hear that. loosing a pet is a painful experience, especially when it happens unexpectedly.

Steve, Contact Yellow dog. I’m sure someone over there would be familiar with it.
