great shots and excellent scenery! Have you been out on the East Galley this season?

in reply to: Live Bait Ban on Hooch Upheld #54939

    I approve.

no more rainbows with circle hooks in the back yard huh?

Now I will have to learn to fish with both hands and put my beer down!

No seriously, It will be nice to not see a jetboat flinging stocked bows in front of the dam and filling up youtube with videos

The ULA Force is a sweet little reel.  I have one and used it for guiding this summer and it worked great, just as it should.  I never had any problems with it and we had lots of fishing pulling on it.  I have a 4wt line on it and even with the line and backing on it, it feels so much lighter than other reels.  I put this on a Hardy Zenith and the thing is super light and hot looking!  Not that the clients know any different though.

+1 on the weight, they are scary light!

I have a yellow lab named Bear–He is as easy going and gentle as any dog I have ever owned–He also has zero drive and desire to hunt-

Thats spooky! I have a black lab named Bear, same demeanor. best behaved dog i have been around but retrieving is not his thing. most of the good hunting dogs I have been around did not seek much affection, they just wanted to retrieve all the time

Lots of Dove here in GA for me and an occasional kick-n-blast quail trip with the paw.

South GA dove hunts in the 90 degree heat are the best fun you can have with a shotgun in GA IMO.

I had a waterworks 2 on my 4wt and the leader would get between the spool and the black piece (not sure what they call it). They are great looking reels that are super lightweight and they put a guard on the saltwater models to combat that problem. I have owned 3 lightspeeds that I never had issues with FWIW

    Mike, Great shots!

    any rattlers?

Nice permit Gregg, What a beautiful place to fish

FWIW I always take 1 spinner saltwater fishing and catching permit is tough enough regardless.

No “Pink Pookies” in the hopper box?

in reply to: Yellowstone River TR #52781

Neal, Whitefish are fish also (or at least on the Madison!). That can be a tough river!

Kaufman’s Stones are a great subsurface choice for those good looking golden stones and one of my favorites to fish.

    What sections did you float?

in reply to: A bit of support please. #52915

Clark, you have my vote and have done an excellent job on some southern country staples.

If you are ever stateside we will have to get you to a Honky- tonk and get out on the Chattahoochee for a shot at about a dozen species!

Looks like a great trip! The bonefish numbers in belize are ridiculous! those bitters are great flies also

i have a BVK 7 that I took to Turneffe for bones and it was a killer rod! I am going to use it bass bugging this weekend and see how it does with big stuff

in reply to: Just for fun-What’s your favourite rod/reel setup? #52130

    for trout a

Sage 489 SPL with a red galvan torque 4 reel, sharkskin wf4 and a ferruled leader.

More than any other site, I feel like I know you other members personally and the fact that we use our real names is a major contributor.  That was a good call Zach.

    Ditto,

This has been a great resource for photography and the talent of this board is second to none.

thanks for devoting your time to keeping this resource running!

in reply to: Striper Setup #52064

Ditto on the 9wt but get the best reel you can and go for a premium line as well.

I use a Scott X2S 9wt with a tibor riptide spool 2 and a rio coldwater multi tip line. I dont mind the Multi tip line as long as I have the entire 30′ of the head out of the rod as it can be annoying to feel that loop to loop connection go through the guides.

If you just want one line for stripes go with Mikes suggestion of the 350 grain sinker.
