I have a yellow lab named Bear–He is as easy going and gentle as any dog I have ever owned–He also has zero drive and desire to hunt-
Thats spooky! I have a black lab named Bear, same demeanor. best behaved dog i have been around but retrieving is not his thing. most of the good hunting dogs I have been around did not seek much affection, they just wanted to retrieve all the time
