Memberper your dad’s age and fast water, i rarely got wet the summer i spent in breckenridge
i ended up wearing waders at first and got too hot walking along streams like the dream stream^
i ended up buying some $15 wellies at walmart and wore those. i fished 11 mile, dream, blue, tommahawk, 63 ranch, knight imler and some others and didn’t have to worry about fast water.
get a boat at stagecoach reservoir near steamboat and fish for huge pike
there are soo many more places to fish that are off the beaten path, the lesser known streams are all over.
all were in a few hours of breck which was my base camp
there are plenty of little brook trout streams around breck too where you can fish dries on a little rod with a fish on every castsend me an email if you want more detail.

Membermy dad taught us at an early age about the potential damage of the sun (maybe from his days at the epa, i’m not sure) he used to wear raybans and had sunlight reflect off the frame to his forehead and had skin frozen off
the smell of copertone reminds me of being on my grandparents balcony in florida with the coral reef out the back door and my parents making us load up on sunscreen
when fishing i wear long sleeves and pants even if its crotch hot out there (protects against bugs too), sung gloves, big hat, buff (such a great product), and shades. drifter’s pic above could be me
here is me covered up cept for my legs in the keys this past May

i load up with spf 45, my dermatologist gave me some spf 75 last summer. we keep it in the car for driving, in day packs, and in our bathrooms. plus it makes my lady smell like tropical drinks.
not only do i not want to have a florida tan, i don’t want to get skin cancer. there is always genetics and chance so we’ll see how well i do in the future
do they give fun pills 😀 when you get the skin taken off ?

Memberscary story, non fishing related:
my mom had one of her long time friends over last night for dinner, she is prob 60-62 and smoker periodically throughout life.
she had a tumor on her lung removed-said tumor result of smoking.
her body’s reaction to the tumor and surgery caused necrosis to her nerve endings from her left knee down.she has, nor will she ever have any feeling in her leg again. she has to walk with a cane. it was rather frightening.

Membertobacco and fishing don’t mix for me just for the fact of its a distraction
1. i can/could only smoke a cig when i’ve had enough drinks to not let the smell bother me and there is one thing i love and its smokes. i don’t drink when i fish so that cancels out smoking while fishing. i’ve had a smoke or two during a break on a rock and thats about it.
2. i don’t smoke cigars when fishing because i need to concentrate on fishing and my hands, i’ll have one during a break. weakness of mine and the fact that i work next to a stogie shop. i mostly smoke at dc united games (we are allowed to smoke in our section) and our tailgate.
3. i did snus for a while after getting lots of free tins from the sweeden embassy, once those ran out i was done. it was a nice buz that you didn’t have to spit. fit in my vest, but then again if i’m buzzed i’m not paying attention.
my fishing buddy once fell in a hole in january. i only saw his hat floating, he came out with mayflies all over him and inside his waders. he was more upset that his smokes were wet than having to be cold all day and wearing his moms puppy sweatshirt that was in his car.
had a teacher in hs who had an anti smoking ad ‘ if smoking did to the outside of your body what it did to the inside, would you still smoke? and there was a pic of a crusty chick.
then i’m reminded of human anatomy cadaver lab.
smoker lung felt like burnt toast
non smoker lung felt like ocello sponge right out of the packetRob Snowhite
Member70, nice

Member^ i agree
the termite order is Isoptera which means equal wing
both wings are of the same size, flies have halteres which are smaller, diminuitive hind wings (like little tennis rackets-easily seen on craneflies)Rob Snowhite
Memberthrough reading these posts i have come to realize i am not using my camera to its full potential and was unaware of the raw feature.
i was at a concert last night and was side stage. decided to shoot in raw. since there was no flashes allowed we’ll see how things come out. i was using my head as a tripod (camera on top of cranium for some shots)
played with other features too. i’ll let y’all know how they come out when i upload them.
ed should update the setlist today: http://oarsa.org/features/viewfutureshow.php?showID=1436

i will have to say the itinerant angler podcasts make you loose weight. I burned 400+ calories last night listening to the SIMMS podcast.
400 calories x ____ podcasts = ______ calories burnedper the below post, i’ll update this post. the elyptical machine thing

MemberI brought them a salami from the cheese shop where I work as a joke. More stories I can tell in person and not here some day 🙂
Just found out the stream was stocked with 5k browns last week. I’d rather fish for hold overs and natural reproducers which probably ate all of the fresh stockies.
I also almost caught a red squirell. The thing was 2x the size of the eastern gray squirell and let me get really close to it. I was only able to touch his front paw.

MemberI overweight my rods by 1-2 weights for 5wt and up. It not only allows me to throw larger flies and cast in the wind, but reduces the number of reels I need. My 8wt rods either have reels for 8 or 10 line. I can use those on my

Memberas someone who gives casting lessons (got one in the cold sat and sunday, brrr), what benefit would i have from being fff certified?
for myself and my clients?
thanks.

Memberi can’t get it to upload pics to the facebook as i did with the last version.
i’ll look into the watermark function, thanks for sharing that new featureRob Snowhite
Memberi want a gun to start hunting birds
but i think the money i spend on the gun, bullets, gear, and gas to go find birds will be more expensive than if i just went to the store and bought chickenour lifestyle is of wants not needs. no one need to fly fish
(i can argue against this from my soul)people want to fly fish, they don’t need to. it is a benefit to life that we could live with out (again, i could argue against this)

Member^ they are pack animals
treat them like they are and they’ll understandthere is a guy on the wash post who writes about this, how eating together and sleeping at the same time lets them know their place in the pack. all pack animals have a leader, make sure the pup knows its not him

Memberi would suggest the superfine if orvis hadn’t increased the price. too many fancy features for looks that won’t help you catch any more fish.
love mine, great action, the prices was great and it is 4pc
i fish that more than my t3, silver label, and sage 4wts

Membermamma gots to show the doodle who is boss!
i agree with stern voice and positive reinforcement, eye contact, maybe a finger snap or other non verbal audible gesture.
like zach, we’ve got dr jones trained (mostly) with verbal commands.
he knows various verbal commands that i’ve taught him. the wife doesn’t use them that often which doesn’t help.
one of my favorites is if you say ‘socks’ and point to someone who has their shoes off, he’ll run over and take their sock off their foot.
