MemberAaron, I have been using a pair similar to these for about 4 years, and I love them.

I find that even when my hands get wet , they still keep them warm. I hate wearing gloves and trying to fish, but when it becomes necessary, these gloves have impressed me time and time again.Dec 26, 2008 at 12:25 am #32165anonymous

MemberHmm, having visited MN during my trip to the Boundary Waters several years ago and hearing stories about plugging in cars at night, I am reluctant to try to define “cold” from my home in Charlotte.

Mark SchaferMemberAaron,
I live in northern Ohio and fish for steelhead a lot. I would worry more about the rest of your body before you get to concerned about your hands. Standing tea bag deep in 30 some degree water will make you glad you thought about more than your gloves. In my experience a dry pair of gloves is always best. I like the cheap knit gloves and I don’t worry about if they match. 3 pair is a good start plus some in the truck just in case. If your hands are that cold the slush and ice on your guides will be a bigger PITA.
PM me if your looking for someone to fish with.

MemberMy favorite gloves? Dry gloves … any dry glove. I was out in 18-degree Oklahoma (brutal without the beauty of, say, Boulder Creek) weather last Monday, and if you’re catching, you’re getting your hands wet. Switched out from Simms mitts to fleece fingered with Pearli (cycling) waterproof over those and was toasty. There is a lot of crossover from cycling to fly fishing when it comes to apparel. shannon

MemberI got these a few weeks ago from Cloudveil and I have enjoyed them.

They don’t have those little flaps to cover your fingers when you are not fishing and are comfortable.

MemberPatagonia or Simms polar fleece fingerless…I find the wool gloves get caught on flies too much…just my two cents…
Dec 29, 2008 at 4:55 pm #32180
Cameron MortensonMemberKevin…you’re right…flies do get caught in wool…but once my Patagonia fleece gloves are wet they no longer keep my hands warm.
