    Found it today on a small Georgia lake, dipping to the surface almost like an egg-laying midge………..

    I’m no expert but I’d use the smallest flying ant pattern I have…..to match it.

    This warm weather is crazy. I was outside this evening in a t-shirt and had to swat a few mosquitos.

    ^ i agree

    the termite order is Isoptera which means equal wing
    both wings are of the same size, flies have halteres which are smaller, diminuitive hind wings (like little tennis rackets-easily seen on craneflies)

    Thanks guys. It was over 70 yesterday – guess the warm weather got `em moving.

    70, nice

    and on second look, the antannae are straight and most ants i’ve observed have an articulation about 3/4 of the way up
