Cameron – you really want to make sure you do your homework when booking a guide down there this late.

Some good advice above – white balance will likely need to be adjusted, but you’ll also want to think about gelling that flash.

The trout are found up in the mountains- we were fishing near a place called Cerro de la Muerte. I think it’s at about 9,000 feet, so even that close to the equator it gets plenty cold, in fact – the water is cold enough that wet wading for any period of time will turn your legs numb.
The Tarpon shot is definitely something else- it definitely took an iron will to pull out the camera as I was casting to rolling tarpon 20 yards away.
Sounds like we have a lot of bluegrass fans on here – for folks in the Northeast: you really ought to check out the Grey Fox bluegrass festival in NY.

I was curious, so I just went over to the spring ridge club homepage – http://www.springridgeclubs.com/
Right on the main page there is a photo of the Becks and the following quote:
We’ve fly-fished all over the world, but some of the biggest trout we’ve caught have been right here in Pennsylvania, on Spring Ridge Club waters.

I’m afraid I don’t know of a website, but I’m pretty sure the last name is spelled “Edvalds”.
I haven’t used these guys yet, but they got a great review in an article I read a while back, so I’ve had the link sitting in my del.icio.us account for a while now:
If it’s a one time project, this might make more sense than investing in a scanner and spending the time to get good results out of it.
I’ve wanted to abuse myself with another obsession for some time, and I think this is a great place to start. 🙂
Warning – the only hobbies I have that have the potential to be as expensive as upland hunting are photography and fly fishing.

To give you an idea of the size of the bag, that’s a d70 with attached Sigma 170-500mm in the center, and along the edges you see Nikon 50mm, Nikon 60mm, Sigma 28mm, Sigma 10-20mm, with a SB-600 along the top in the zippered portion.

Another thing to consider: with the light coming in from the photographer’s left, if you had the fisherman angle the head of the fish a little more towards the camera you could probably eliminate the reflection just behind the gill plate causing blown highlights in that spot.
The only other thing I like to see that hasn’t been mentioned is to have the angler lift the fish just as you’re ready to shoot, so you still have water dripping off the fish – better for the fish and better for the photo.
