I am very interested in the stormfront pack…what is the insert situation for storing camera, lenses, and accessories?
Also would those straps that look to be designed for holding a rod tube work well for a compact tripod?

With the included padded insert, the material on the bag that supports the rod tube straps is rather loose.
Didn’t get to travel in ’10, and the saltwater fishing locally was pretty rough, but I managed to get some trout and landlocked salmon trips in, and came away with a few keepers.
This is probably my favorite – landlocked salmon fishing in northern Maine

Do they make paddles for stand up surfers or something? Anyone recommend an inexpensive one?

I love the idea of ttl for remote flash outside of normal Nikon CLS range.
LL Bean has a new chest pack that looks interesting…and frankly if I had realized William Joseph had their new one out with the magnets..I would have given that a whirl. Zippers can be a pain.
I got a chance to play around with the new Bean’s pack one day this past summer.
I fished one of LL Bean’s new Shearwater reels on my 8 weight in the salt all season, and I was very impressed – especially now that I see the cost. (full disclosure – I got the reel for free as a product tester)
It stayed on my 8 weight from early may until sometime in October, getting a quick blast from the hose a couple of times a week.
I just fail to understand how recreational angling could impact striper pops more than the decimation of their forage. Stop emptying the waters of the shad, menhaden, etc. and the stripers will do well. Hell, the commercial fishery for stripers might even rebound. Recreational fishing in oceans will never compare to the industrialized rape of wild fishery populations.

You’re right that the industrial fisheries for forage species (specifically menhaden in the bay and herring at sea) are a major factor, as is the incredibly poor water quality in the Chesapeake (in part, also the fault of industrial menhaden fishing), but don’t discount the destructive potential of a few million guys with fishing rods.
80% of total Striper mortality is due to sportfishers? If you believe that I’ve got a great deal on a piece of property right on the Madison river! You just said the data on the recreational side is “poor” so where does the claim of 80% come from? 😕

That number comes from the ASMFC (http://www.asmfc.org) – the body responsible for managing the coastwide striper stocks.

Those are all different fish. We boated around 30 on the first day. None smaller than 15lbs.
