I had a tough time putting this year’s together, but after a bit of head scratching I came up with a bunch of things I’d been meaning to buy but hadn’t quite gotten around to picking up:

    Joby Gorrilapod SLR
Color calibration system for my monitor
    2008 Hunting/Fishing license
Replacement front & back caps for my Sigma lenses (great glass, but the caps are miserable)
Extra QR plate for my ballhead

For surf fishing, unless you have very quick dropoffs, you’re probably going to want an intermediate line – a faster sinking line will have you dragging the bottom.

For anyone that liked the show, or anyone that’s interested in wolves in general, I highly recommend Decade of the Wolf by Douglas W. Smith and Gary Ferguson.

I have a brand new pair of these awaiting a steelhead trip in a couple of weeks, glad to hear the positive reviews.

Ian, I’d try to get in touch with El Pescador of the wayupstream blog and let him know your experiences – I’d imagine you fish a lot harder than the average angler(as most folks here do) but one season still seems a bit short for the lifespan of a pair of high end boots.

I don’t understand why intermediate line is so closely associated with Striper?? I hate it for just about everything, it don’t float and it don’t really sink either…. I rarely fish a floating line unless it’s a time of year when a topwater blitz might occur. .

I think this is a reflection of the saltwater roots of striper fishing.

I don’t hunt quite as much as I fish, but it’s a near thing.

I’ve found that the inside of the foil label on a can of Edge Shave gel is a great reflective coating for crease flies.

    John,

DPReview has articles up on both, and I think Nikon UK’s website has press releases up, but it’s being buried in traffic right now.

Something I just figured out tonight that’s somewhat relevant here:

I use Lightroom and Photoshop on XP.
