The Itinerant AnglerHey guys –
This weekend the inevitable finally occurred and I took a spill while wearing my D200/12-24mm f/4 on my back.

Do yourself a favor and ship the camera back to Nikon right away to have it professionally cleaned.Jan 29, 2008 at 4:28 am #62316Zach Matthews

MemberZach,
That is great news…I was just about to send you a check for the money we raised at the Kool-Aid stand in front of my house…the Miquelon kids stepped up to the plate. They heard the story, set up shop and raised $753 in Kool-Aid and Girl Scout Cookie sales. Grace said “Dad, how in the world could you let Zach go after your fly when you were the moron that got it hooked on that log?”. She’s 10…go figure…
Did you ever get warm? Did you get strange looks on the plane for your two-tone jeans?
Godspeed, my friend…I hope to see you soon…

The Itinerant AnglerHey Labriti –
It definitely had moisture in the battery component and CF slot, and the inside of the viewfinder did fog for a few minutes as I was drying it out in the car, but there was no visible moisture on the CCD or on the mirror, or on the rear element of the lens.

I am an insurance defense lawyer partially specializing in coverage claims.

MemberThe question then will be whether or not anyone will write me a policy for a similar rate; I don’t know the answer.
Probablly not, but the good thing about having it on a seperate floater is that it won’t mess with your actual homeowners insurance rates, that and the low/no deductible.

The Itinerant AnglerGood point.

MemberI’ve had my personal articles policy cover a couple things, including a lens and a couple of cell phones, and there has been no major increase in the premiums. I also have all the rest of my insurance with the company too, which i am sure helps.
Bummer about the spill though, i am waiting for it to happen to me.

MemberFor real.
And yeah, like Eric said if it’s all lumped in together you’ll get a little more room to breath with something like that.

InactiveOK…the last few posts in this thread are starting to confuse me. Should I or shouldn’t I have a rider on my homeowners for this stuff? We have our homeowners and vehicle with the same company. Should I be looking at a third policy or add it to my homeowners? From what I gather from Eric’s post, if I had a claim, and it was on my homeowners, my premium would increase too much.
BTW…Zach, where were you fishing?

John BennettMemberYou should look into having your gear on a rider.
Generally speaking if its under your homeowners theres no certainty it will be covered should you braincramp. Where as Riders for the most part are no fuss replacement. Also, there are other considerations like deductibles and premium increases if you do submit claims.Zach.
At $17/month for your body you might want to shop around anyways, thats pretty expensive. I pay $110/year and thats for over 7G worth of replacement coverage. Granted, we live in different countries but I often see reference to around 100/year both north and south of the border.Jan 29, 2008 at 9:35 pm #62329Carter Simcoe
Memberon a rider, no question.
