The zebra mussel was supposed to be the death of lake Erie, and for a time it was a significant problem in boat motors, water intakes and a general pain in the ass. But after maybe ten years now the problem has subsided to the point that I don’t hear much of anything about it from my fishing friends, some of the trolling Walleye fisherman will pick them up on their spoons. On the positive side the lake is much cleaner now from  a casual view point, and that has caused sun light to penetrate deeper increasing the aquatic plant life near shore, and at one time I read that each mussel filtered a gallon of water a day. I’m not sure what impact that will bring to your waters and how it will differ with your water being so much warmer. Of course now  all the attention is on the Asian carp issue in lake Erie.

Cam.. That’s what I have been doing also plus adding a few extra spices to the mix. I think this weekend I’m going to try using the double fry method that I use for fries.

I certainly feel for the small store but Simms selling direct online is not really an issue surely? Simms gear is already online via shops, ebay
    etc etc.
I’m a little sceptical as to what the impact would be, if at all?

That’s pretty much my feelings on this Simon, you can’t get a shop much smaller than mine, and I don’t see this hurting me any and if Simms does go after those that advertise below MAP it will be a good thing.

When I had my raft I used Sawyer MX-G counterbalanced oars with the Fir wood blades and it made a hugh difference)

First off Rick I’m glad you made the upgrade to the sticks before you sold the raft to me I really like the as well, and did anyone else notice Rick’s change of location. I’m going to miss seeing pictures of those Michigan browns you put up. Good luck with the new venture, and if anyone needs fishy design work done I can highly recommend Rick’s work.

We haven’t had a 100 degree day here in Ohio for 2 years but how many did Dallas have in a row last year. I think location has a lot to do with it.

The bulk of the conversation when it comes to high end ice chests is about keeping things cold, but there is a whole other end of the spectrum for when it comes to cooking things  Sous-verd style.

My Korkers rep suggests going with your street shoe size, but I have had customers go one size larger to accommodate extra socks (no need in my book)for winter steelhead fishing. The last Time I ordered Korkers, they only came in full sizes and if you have never had the Boa lace system you’ll like that feature.
