Simms unisuit if I know my shirt tail is going to come out at some point like pheasant hunting, but i really like the simms wader pants forget the name but having pockets is a plus and they don’t add a lot of bulk.
Hands down if your going in the water when it’s cold like we do for Steelhead and waterfowl here lacrosse 5mm neoprene with thinsulate in the boots can’t be beat.

Down pants under waders does not sound comfortable at all.
Fleece wader pants seem to work best for me and they dry quick, can’t imagine walking in for a burger and beer after fishing in down draws.
Maybe that’s just a norther phobia..

Glad to hear all the positives about this stuff I have had a few requests for it, and heard from the company today with the usual paper work to fill out.

    Thanks Zach,
This is a 3 person star raft so no zippers or push buttons, but I have checked all the Allen screws a few times.
I have wondered about how much pressure to take out of the bladders the front section that holds the bow casting deck is the most worry some as the strap binds the front tube.
I’ll check into the turtle wax I just feel I should be doing some sort of maintenance I’ve spent more time on the trailer.

Randy is right if you took that picture and walked into Kris Breshsnyder’s shop and said you wanted a copy of it 4k would be a start.
But if you came to my old shop on a Saturday afternoon ( no work ever gets done after 12:00)with a 12 pack and said you wanted something SIMILAR for your tying materials and would like to help build it and really weren’t in a big hurry, I would say about $500 a bit more if you take my advice and put a piece of Granite on the top.
Honestly, the worst part is working out the math for the best use of material and the fewest setup changes, that’s what the beer is for!
Randy was also correct in doubting if just anyone with a table saw could build it I was taking into account everyone has tenoning jigs, cut off sleds and all the blade opinions that we do.

Come on Randy, anyone who has seen Norm Abrams build a curved top china cabinet in less than an hour would find this project a piece of cake.HA
Your right I may have overestimated some people’s skill abilities. I grew up in my uncles shop and spent the last 20 odd years building custom doors as a hobby,at some point walnut dust has become a pizza topping to me, and I would assume not many beginners have a wall full of clamps either. I think most cabinet saws offer that “hotdog” finger saver blade stop option now.

I was looking at the one with the drawers open, mostly dados and rabbets, starting with some s4s lumber, no real complicated joinery, even wood drawer slides.
Walnut for the showey parts maple or popular as the secondary, some plywood for the panels and tray bottoms.

    Randy,
Not sure which part tickled your funny bone, but I have built enough cabinets to see it that way.
Please let me know what you see as such an optimistic statement, I went through my cut sequence with a very skilled friend and he called it a ” utilitarian cabinet built that way, nothing special from a skill level”

Other than the cabinet with the raised panel sides, this is pretty straight forward cabinet box making, with little more than a table saw needed.
You could build one yourself or find a hobby woodworker to help you, or check with a local senior center ours is always looking for projects.

Cost $9 to fill a 20 pound propane tank here in Ohio and every 10th one is free.

Jerry Darkes is supposed to have a book (video)coming out on fly fishing for walleye on lake Erie, I haven’t talked to him recently but I’ll do some checking.

Zach, he might even be a good podcast candidate you probably already know him.

That’s a great start, and from the look of things I won’t need to drag the drift raft out there the first trip.

A trip report would be a definite, that pup had his first solo flush, shot and retrieve at 6 months for my then 14 year old son last November in SD, this year will be fun we also have an 11 year old lab that is all business in the field Zayne is learning from a good teacher. I’ll see if I can remember how to post pictures and put a few up.

So, If they are put away dry keeping them folded and in the bottom of the wader bag doesn’t hurt them any? I like being partially packed when I get a last minute chance to head out, and need to pack for 4or 5 of us in a hurry.

I went with an NRS ice box, I like the latches and I was afraid that anything that had the Yeti or other well known logo on it would would be more likely to grow legs when I wasn’t watching. My thinking is you get in your main ice box once a day to get out what you want for that day, and keep the beer etc in the Coleman.
