Gas has not impacted me as much as the overall economy with the housing market. The company that I presently work for does design and advertising for quite a few of the apartment management companies. With a slow down in work for many people across the board – the apartment community is booming. I need to hire folks but everyone is holding on tight to their present jobs. I had an art director quit which puts even more strain on me and now I have to deal with some crazy travel.

So I have not been able to fish due to working 60- 80 hours a week or traveling to east nowhere Massachusetts (with no time to fish). This work habit needs to stop because it is causing strain on more than just my fishing. The wife and the new baby want me with them.

I have to say that I am more confused than ever.

I need to look at the Canons more and figure out what I really want.

PS I like the second shot a lot but I’d adjust the white balance slightly to lose some of the reddish hues.

    Zach

I like the second shot as well. Both of the photos had that red hue to them on all my monitors. Carter- do you know what is causing that. Post production… Camera?

With little fishing over the winter I was checking on ebay….. as one does ::) and just saw a Winston Fiberglass rod go for over 650 bucks!! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

    Wow!!

Is that the most ever for fiberglass!

Two of the bigger manufacturers are making modern glass, Scott and T&T

Cameron, you guys are on the cutting edge of something big here!

    I second your WOW!!

Cameron is out of town and away from his computer. But I know that He will be excited to see this. He has talked me into a glass rod and I cannot wait to get it. I am paying $600 for a new custom built and to see a production glass at $650 makes me think that I made a good decision.

After casting some of these glass rods, it is hard to understand why they went out of favor but I second that feeling for bamboo as well. Changes in technology is the case but changes in technology might also be bringing them back. The glass that I casted are slower in nature but I really like it and they are pretty forgiving even with a bad cast. Many of the graphites are just to fast. The nostalgia and history is also kind of fun and I know Cameron Likes being different.

There has also been a surge of shorter fly rods made for the bass tournaments here in the US. We might be seeing glass enter those niches as well. The nature of the glass rod and size might be the answer to fit those bills. I have not tried to roll over a big popper or streamer but the 5wts that I have casted sure feel like they can do it.

I have really been enjoying this thread because I am in the same boat. I am shopping to buy. I enjoy taking a good photo but have no professional aspirations. I’ll be collecting landscapes, and macros of bugs and plants. Combine this with the shots of my daughter growing up. I collect the “DETAILS” for illustration and design, and that is the purpose this camera.

So here is the million dollar question. Nikon or Canon. I would like to stay in the 10 megapixel range. With this being an Insurance replacement – I have a budget of $900 – $1000. Every SLR I have ever owned has been a Pentax, K1000s and Ps – good beaters that I was not scared to mess up and perfect learning tools at the time. Also the glass was easy to find for cheap.

I have narrowed it down to the Nikon D60 kit with the 18-55 and 70-200 and starting research on the Canons (unless your opinions change that). Every professional photographer I know and work with professionally uses the nikons but none of these folks do outdoor photography.

I like to be able to zoom a little more, I had a 70-400 with my pentax… And macro but all of that is future glass.

I had to make a dreaded call to the insurance company. After a house fire and a total rebuild, calling for tree damage made me feel like I was abusing the “system”. We lost one little section of fence but the house and everyone are okay.

The trees I lost were big. The big one has a 158″ diameter

Reflections on glass tables. To give you the short answer.

It is easy to put the reflection on the table. In PS transform, reverse and distort til it looks right. Then put the transparency to the layer

The hard part is taking the old reflection out. Lots of cloning, healing and hand painting. ๐Ÿ™

    That was a fun one.

Bill you are correct… and it drives me crazy as well. They ask for it – they get it. The sky you mentioned cropped out and I didnt want to charge for the time on the tree.

The crazy unnatural stuff – that was the reason for the post. I’m glad you got it and yes – I hate it. This was all one days work… One crazy day.

Good info… Now to get the little lady there. She is reluctant to go to stuff like that but she really loves the sport. Her best friend and fishing partner just moved (to a location just for fishing). Some women are just different about “Clubs”…

    Let me get this right…

Toyota does not have a diesel in your market?? hell about 60% of our fishing “trucks” are diesel… Isuzu, Toyota, Nissan, Landrover, Pajero… etc…

You got it right… None of those manufactures have a diesel in our market and we do not even know what an Opel or a Pajero is…. And if I were to choose between the Isuzu and The Subaru – the Subaru would get might buy. I love my Outback and the Impreza I had before it was a beast in ALL conditions.

I tie them from a 12 to 18. I tie most of the softies in those sizes. Just a good middle of the road attractor sizes.
