MemberYou can do it but not with the plain old home ink jet printers. Our sign printer does it and it looks awesome.. BUT it is also made to print on vinyl, canvas and acetate and cost about $20000.
It’ll smear on your home machine.
Tektronics, back in the day made a thermal wax printer that would print on anything. I am not sure why that technology went away. It was great for making mock ups.

MemberI was at the Kings Plow Art Center yesterday and drove around a little, and was amazed at how good it has been cleaned up. With all the pictures on the news, I almost canceled my appointment yesterday.
I work in Ball Ground from Canton and my commute is like a walk in the park. Also, I was commuting back and forth from Athens to Atlanta while in school and was ready to be one of those road ragers.
The urban sprawl here is what makes the planning so difficult. Marta is not a real help either… But this is all topics for another board I guess.
I am amazed that no more people were hurt.

MemberAll is well here. I spent Saturday in the basement of a Church. We went upstairs during a break in the storm, they performed the wedding ceremony and back to the basement we went. There was a crashing thunder when the groom kissed the bride. Is that good or bad?
My father is a high up one of the local utilities and said there was a major mess in Cobb County which is south of myself. I am going to Kings Plow in downtown Atlanta for meetings tomorrow, so I’ll see what happened down there. It is located close to the dome and that whole area.
Thanks for your prayers.

MemberI love Roscoe Holcombe. Doc Boggs has got to be one of my favorites. I have been listening to a Black Banjo songsters CD that I found from years past on my iPod. The carolina ocolate drops has got to be the best groups out right now. And you cold never go wrong with Bill Monroe. ALL the Alan lomax RECORDINGS ARE PRETTY AMAZING.
NOW that would be fun. Take Alan lomax Idea of recording folk america and expand it a little. Include local fishing, local flies, local food. THAT WOULD BE A FUN PROJECT.

MemberOH they paid the price.
this whole thing still makes me laugh. I have been laughing at Windows since my first Mac Plus in 1986.
They need to open the blinds on those windows and now with VMWare fusion I can run any operating system at the same time within this machine but then I say why do I need that.

MemberMy options are open right now and Iam up for something of a change. I am going to order a glass rod because I have never tried it. If it doesnt work for me, My wife or daughter can use it.
But I am really enjoying the options you all are throwing out. The Hexagraph and Gatti question didnt get any replies which might answer my questions.

MemberI have total respect for the bamboo and love to fish it. It is really much tougher than the graphite.
I would fish a bamboo if it is in the $600 – $700 range. Less than that would be even better due to this rod is going to be abused. That is about as premium graphite as I go and I know

MemberExact same and it is all about “Effects” or changing the feel. AND IT IS ABOUT PLAYING WITH THE IDEAs more than just the image.
When you break away from basic color correction into the world of channels, masks, layers and so on. My biggest suggestion is to keep the original layer in tact and experiment.
On that note. I also go by a rule of keeping it simple and try to make it look like the photo was shot that way. If it looks like a photoshop bastardization it probably is.
Check the books out from this group http://www.kelbytraining.com/. Great info

Memberno sadness. All is great. I had great insurance and it was just stuff and it changed My well being.
The time it is taking to get it all back together is the only hard part. AND cardboard from all the stuff I have to put together is taking over my life. Good thing I live 2 minutes from the recycling center.

MemberPretty simple really. The channels panel is basically the same as your layers panel except you are working the individual color . Select the channels pallet and select the channel you want and do your sharpening.
TIP… You can select whatever area you want and only do it to that area for better results.
With offset printing, we’ll hit the black channel quite often just to make the photo have a crispness about it.
You can Blur your channels the same way to get some great feel to your photo. Select the background and just soften a channel.
I mentioned Lab color at some point. Switch from RGB to Lab and Sharpen the L channel to get some cool results then go back to RGB.
Photoshop is a crazy tool and if you ever here someone say they are proficient in the program… they are probably only fishing dry flies (there is a whole nother world sub surface) I have been using Photoshop for right at 20 years now and It still makes me feel clueless about how to use it. But that is why I Fly fish and do Design.

Memberfor what you mentioned a simple action is all you need to do. It is as easy as recording to tape… No scripting, no code.
Look up actions in the help menu or just let me know and I’ll send you one of my little training tutorials

MemberChromasia is a good standard… amazing photo blog.
About RAW… it goes both ways now. I loved the RAW files but it is real slow for the Photographer and the files can be huge and most cameras will save both ways. CS3 has fixed that and it will open RGB JPEGs and TIFs in Camera RAW. So either way. Those folks asking for RAW files will start taking just about anything.
Correct to the eye in Camera RAW… then Correct curves to the numbers (white, mid, black tones) in Photoshop, Unsharp mask the channels (doing the separate channels… a different world) that make it pop. and you are Golden.
Convert it to Lab and mess with those channels. Another world starts happening… The Luminance channel is the only way to fix many photos…

MemberI want to color some of my old black and white stuff now.
It is Great to hear someone talking about traditional methods of photography… I mean some folks soon will not know what a polaroid is.

MemberAnother trick to clean up and finish the same idea.
Figure out which head shot you like the best and make it the base layer
erase only body and head of the the layers you do not want to keep.
NOW you have a eight armed Zach with a clearer photo for presentation.
