There has been a recent blitz of adds for travel to the Mississippi coast. I checked it out and you can get some incredibly cheap deals.

big ole reds… And with no major storms this year, the fishing should be pretty good. I havent kept up with the reports.

Which reminds me. Has anyone here ever caught a Flounder on a Fly Rod? I have caught a few on accident and it was like pulling in a truck.

and i think the thought of Mississippi strippers scares me a little.

    Neal,
Good red & sea trout fishing down here all year. Summer brings jacks, ling, ladys and tripletails. Most of my fishing is for reds in the Biloxi Marsh off the coast of west Mississippi (typical LA marsh fishing). The barrier islands are also good.

Know nothing about Strippers. Still looking for my first flounder on a fly.

You really need a boat to fish down here. We do have several guides who specialize in fly fishing.

Can you share any of the guides names, numbers, or websites?
    Thanks

    Bret & Neal,

Just PM’ed you contact information for the guide.

We have two spots that I would consider big fish, shallow water spots (sight fishing). The most well known is the Biloxi Marsh which is really in LA but easiest reached from MS. It’s a huge area and almost exclusively fished by MS boats. Fly Fishing in Saltwater had a story on it in the last month or so.

We throw a lot of crab patterns, tans, browns, coppers. Clousers work. Rods run from 6 to 8wts. Quick and accurate is more important than distance.

Seems like this thread has a lot of Freudian slippage going on.

    “Crap Patterns”?

My spell checker was on high alert when I was spelling Mississippi so it was easy to miss my slip.
