David AndersonMemberWhat about a macro ?
They’re grerat for shooting pictures of fish in the hand and all the details in fly fishing.
I don’t know what camera you have but I use Canon and they have a couple awesome macros.
The 50 2.5 and the 100 2.8, both are razor sharp. The 50 is very light and somtimes if I want to travel light up a creek it’s the only lens I bring, it’s also a great lens for photographing still lifes and flat copy.
The 100 macro is one of the best and sharpest lenses that Canon make and will shoot life size ( great for small bugs and flys ) it’s also a very good portrait lens.
I think Nikon have a 60 that’s very good.

David AndersonMemberDavid I am not 100% sure about this answer but I think the answer to the wine question is MANY. Many bottles of wine were served with the Mac & Cheese.
Some of you guys would make fine Australians !
(You would have to learn to survive on less cheese though )‘Many’ used to be my favorite drop before I got old and switched from acid to antacid.

David AndersonMemberHi Grant,
I have the G 7’6 #2 and it’s been my yardstick for judging the quality of light rods for over ten years.
Also had a throw of a G 8’8 #3 the other day and it’s a great rod.
In the G2’s I have the 7’7 #2 and have had a cast of the 4 weight, both are very nice rods as well.
Scott make great light rods if you ask me.. ๐

David AndersonMemberThat’s a great lookin reel !
Can you get them new ?I have that sliding band problem with all my little reels on that rod, I think the cut for the foot is a bit shallow – the reels never fallen off however.
I’m now using this little Bougle for the #3 F and the St. George Jr below for the #2 F’s as it’s a little more in keeping with their old world charm and the extra weight of the hardys balances out the tippy weight of the rods a bit better.
The Sage 3100 because of it’s light weight now lives on the TXL #3 and SLT #2 I use when not feeling retro or in the wind. ย ๐

David AndersonMemberHi Spencer..
If you have a pulse you’ll love the F #3, it’s IMO the best rod Scott make and a joy to fish with..I found the S.A. Xps line matches it very well for Australian small streams.. ๐
Here’s a pick of a Thredbo river brown with mine.

At $300 it’s a steal…

David AndersonMemberperhaps scott could release a more attractive g2.
Have to agree with that, I reviewed a G2 7’7 #2 and while it’s a joy to fish with the wraps clash with the blank color..
It’s not as pretty as the G’s.www.dsaphoto.com

David AndersonMemberI too am a diehard Scott fan. ย I have an SAS and a Heliply, but the best rod I have ever cast is the STS. ย It broke my heart when they discontinued it.
Was there a 7’9 #3 in the STS line ?
I had a Scott 7’9 #3 it was a grey blank ( can’t remember the exact model name ) and I broke it and sent it back to Scott – they replaced it with an 8′ #3 S3.
It was a lovely rod, more powerful than a G and a sweet cast.
Mide you the S3 is a nice rod as well.. ๐
