    If I can Hi-jack for a second here –

What are some other new glass rods around ?
Here I’ve really only seen the Scotts and one Diamond back.

I tried to get a T&T one for a magazine review, but it hasn’t happend yet..

Is there a link – links with a range or something ?

    I love the glass rods I’ve tried ( I have 4 of the F’s now ) and wouldn’t mind trying a few more !!

Remember the old bumper sticker “Gas, grass or ass nobody rides for free” ?
Maybe that should be “Glass, grass or graphite”

David…I am not sure that this rod is “a must have rod”…but I am intrigued with it nonthless.  Several of the members on the Fiberglass Flyrodders forum have them and they are well thought of.  And I have a soft spot for yellow fiberglass rods since my first was an Eagle Claw Featherlight…ha.

This thread has the links for purchasing these Japanese yellow Fenwick fly rods.

Whoops, just noticed the other thread !

Thanks for the links – I have a soft spot for glass rods, but there’s not much around here in Oz.

My first rod (in 1975 ish ) was an Eagleclaw as well, I think it was an eight, must have weighed that in pounds anyway.. ;D

Quick question ( off topic sorry )

    What’s a yellow Fenwick ?
If it’s a must have rod – do you guys have a link ?

    Thanks.

Yes…the Scott “F” is a bit faster than most of my other glass rods…but I like the action to them.  That three weight I have is a bit small and light for all around work.  I might look at the four weight if I were you.  The wraps on this series of rods is really beautiful with grey, white, green, and black thread used in an interesting wrap style.

Just got the Scott 7’6 #4 Fibretouch and like the 3 it’s a great rod, but has that bit of extra grunt.

    Nice shots above !

Here’s a Booby fly in the gob of a nice rainbow on the stripping apron of my Floatboat.

A damsel getting ready to launch first thing in the morning.

    Another early morning shot.

This is a big stonefly from a very small stream.

All these are shot on a 100 2.8 Canon macro.

    Hi Cameron,

    Nice shots !

I have that same rod – it’s such a joy to fish with and is one of my favorite light rods.

    Nice pix Morsie…

These ones are great because they’re so easy to control with the flippers always leaving both hands free for fishing.
They’re also very agile on the river, we’ve had them down some fast water as well and didn’t have any problems picking a line.

I also like all the room behind the seat, I can fit a lot of camera gear and a fishing bag.

They’re a great platform for photography being stable and dry.

    Nice!

I might have missed it but are those a different species of bass?  They look like smallmouth bass but they are big smallmouths!

Yeah I second that.  Great pictures, thanks for sharing.  I like the wing material on the second fly to the right in the naturals picture.  Do you happen to know what it is?

That’s a foam cicada fly made for trout in New Zealand – I’ll try to get some details for you.
I got them in a few sizes from the Creel Tackle store in Turangi.

A close up of the foam lizard fly.

    Some more natural flies.

This is the start of the trip, you can see how wild the country is.

Happy campers before we set off, this would have been a great time for the big fella to notice the river was 18 inches low and we were about to drag the rafts for the next four days..

This is the last afternoon, only a few miles to go till pick-up.
This was the hardest section to drag the boats through and it went on for 300 or 400 yards..
The look on Morsies face says it all really.

Despite the hardships and heat and really only one good days fishing it’s still one of the best fishing trips I’ve ever been on..
