Simon ChuMemberMike have you had any issue with the zip on your Simms bag?
Simon ChuMemberHi Cameron
If you want one there’s always a few laying around on the web down here.
Daryl, thats pretty tricked out! π
I learnt on a kilwell customline and then got a blue glass rod called a robin hood.
There are not many 8ft glass rods that I see but plenty in the 8’6 – 9ft range.
Simon ChuMemberThanks Zach.
It really means a lot.
Its incredible in NZ’s second largest city, we’ve got off so lightly. The fact it was 4.30 in the morning was a blessing in many ways.
Thanks to everyone who has sent messages. Everyone in NZ is mucking in and good things always eventuate from these situations.
Simon ChuMemberTim, when are you back?
Email me eh.
We need to fish. π
Simon ChuMemberThanks guys.
I’m ok.
A bunch of friends have started reporting in and unbelievably (Thank goodness!) there are no fatalities.
We got shaken this morning at 4.30 but nothing like the folks up North.
7.1 on the Richter and 10km underground. There are some amazing stories of close misses and extensive property damage. Infrastructure has taken quite a toll. Unfortunately severe gale winds and rain are forecast for tomorrow.
There is a curfew on tonight in Christchurch from 7pm to 7am.
Simon ChuMemberonce again the photography is just stunning!
Thanks for sharing
Simon ChuMemberAnyone tried the LL Bean duffle?
Any thoughts on what is comparable?I’m also very excited about the TXL-F
4 piece and a really cool handle.Morsie make sure you bring one to fish that “creek” with when you come over this summer eh.
Simon ChuMemberI really like the Mustard C70SD in 8, 6, and 4s. After that I tend to the Gamakatsus and tiemcos.
Those flies were killer. No wonder your mate had a great time! Nice one.
Simon ChuMemberNice flies Karsten!
Simon ChuMemberAnother great thread!
Thank you guys!
Simon ChuMemberCome back for a month Joel!
Give Debbie that Southern summer Christmas
Simon ChuMemberGreat pics as usual Stu.
The Paua inlay is pretty special on that reel seat too π
Simon ChuMemberGreat trip report mate.
Good on ya.
Simon ChuMemberI’ve fished the 5 Shane and its amazing how much grunt it has. Quite a big rod and I probably would like it even better if it had a full wells and butt.
It can really lob weight and definitely a niche rod.
Simon ChuMemberCool Zach
Christchurch in March…
Just a couple of days before J&D get here. hmm
Wonder if they’d consider coming closer to Antarctica for a quick gig? π
Simon ChuMemberThanks
Good advice π
Simon ChuMemberTalk soon mate
Bring mice
Simon ChuMember

I havn’t had too many days chasing the seriously big guys. A lot of them need to be chased at night and some need boat access. Anywhere where there is Beech (but not silver) and with fish 25-30 inches long will produce some stonking great fish.
The brown in the pic is not even 24 inches long and was just shy of 9lbs. The rainbow was close to 7 I suppose and looked like a rugby ball. Both taken in daylight on small nymphs. ::)
Simon ChuMemberMate, just read your last post again.
End of this month is no good for me as I’m going to chase Kingfish off the East Coast but check your messages.I can’t post those pics Morsie as they’re not strictly mine but I’ll stickup some pics of smaller fish that have been on the micky protein diet
