There was a thread 2-3 months ago about these new rods. Now that we are a few months farther down the road, I was wondering if more folks have had a chance to fish these rods and what the impressions/experiences are so far?

Seems that there is somewhat of a new trend in developing and bringing to market nymphing/indicator specific rods. In addition to the Sage rods, it appears that Scott has developed an indicator rod exclusively for The Fly Shop in California. It only comes in a 7wt at this time and is only available at The Fly Shop in 2010. The Fly Shop also has their own house brand of indicator rods that seem to be much like the Sage rods. I only know this because I received a Fly Shop catalogue for some reason. Anyway, it seems we may be seeing more of these type rods in the future.

Fished the 7wt. for a little bit this past November for steelhead. It was nice, turned over rigs great. I only fished it for a little bit though, indy fishing is not my thing. I think that all of these indicator rods coming out will fill the niche in the various markets. Good selection of weights by the different companies.

I’ve fished the 5 Shane and its amazing how much grunt it has. Quite a big rod and I probably would like it even better if it had a full wells and butt.
It can really lob weight and definitely a niche rod.

I haven’t fished one, but I was checking one out at a local fly shop.
