Simon ChuMemberI knew this would be a great place for excellent advice.
John, this is my first DSLR and thats sound advice. I’m the first to admit that I am a shocker for being patient. I will try harder :-[DA. Thanks. I’m learning about f stops and all this new language. I’m trying hard to shoot with the 50 and am loving it.
I’m not sure what the difference between full frame and not is?
Simon ChuMemberYou need a world cup rugby fix… or maybe turn that into a professional gig and another NZ fishing fix perhaps?
I could take you twiggin’
Funny how you’re sick of humping the gear and I’ve just bought my first DSLR! πHey Simon, next time I get over there I’ll look you up just so I can say ‘told you so’ on the DSLR and get you to take all the photos and hump all the gear around ;D
Seriously, love to catch up for some twiggin this summer and to talk rugby if it’s not too sore a point for you.. ::) π

Simon ChuMemberStoked to see the uglies doing the damage Tim!
It was cool to talk to Joel about who supplies his flies in the US and to find out he used the uglies in the US. Particularly for whitefish – not too sure if thats a compliment?! Β π
I think he was just as suprised as me to find out who Simon was! Β π
Simon ChuMemberNice fishing mate! π
Simon ChuMemberNo worries mate!
Simon ChuMemberNice mate
Just been South with Joel and Debbie
Got some nice ones eh πJoel lost a hog
Simon ChuMemberHope he gave you a pass mate
Simon ChuMemberJoel
I’ll touch base when you hit NZ.
Christchurch is not good and much of the nation is in shock.
Everybody is chipping in and its time like this when everybody gets together and humananity can win through.
Our thoughts and prayers are with those that have lost their lives and loved ones.
Simon ChuMemberMe too but I got the right one off itunes
Simon ChuMemberGreat stuff Stu! Simon must be the most photographed fly fisherman in all of New Zealand! Must be the good company he keeps. Stu, Greig, Chris Dore… Β π Well done guys! I am super jealous!
Joel
That’ll be us in a few months mate!
Simon ChuMemberHi Joel
NZ guides don’t float but some will drive pretty decent distances to get onto fish. For a walk guide expect to pay 650-800NZD. (thats 490-600US) a day.
Just for a comparison.
Simon ChuMemberSome pics
Didymo – keep it out!

Washing boots – minimum precautions.

Tim with a couple of nice ones. – putting the wood to them.

On the Mataura. A nice fish on the dry. Several were rising in the foam lines behind the willows.

Simon ChuMemberNice one mate π
Welcome anytime Tim.
I’ll post some pics when I’ve sorted through them.Almost the same river Zach – The river in the DVD is a tributary of the river with willows. The Mataura.
In the pics I see we are just down from the bridge again, by the big willow. π
Simon ChuMemberNice Stu
Hell of a river, that one huh?!
Simon ChuMemberAwesome Tim!
Looking forward to catching up in a couple of weeks.
Those are stonking fish!!Don’t worry we don’t hold our fish like that in the South
