Sweet! Where can I get one of those “tail” hats???? Shannon

I am Nikon, and shoot the D300 on a daily basis, but I was surprised to see no one mentioned the D90’s video capabilities. Given my druthers, I would love to have a D90 to back up my D300 and dabble more in video with my good glass. All this said, the real break point between pro and consumer is going from D90 to D300, and the D90 has been top dog in the consumer / prosumer line for quite awhile.

Hey, you don’t need HD to see that action! That pond was ALIVE! I dare you to poach it! shannon

in reply to: Stinger Hooks #57341

We are tying more and more standard patterns on Stingers down here. Why? Because they stick Bass! There really is no ethical issue with bass (thank goodness), and they can shake just about anything – except Stingers. Downside – Stingers have an unusual center of gravity, so if you want it to ride hook up (like a Clouser), it will take some experimentation. They could be pretty wicked on a Trout though.

Quiet is good, but for how we do it here, a fast loading line is primo. What a great job of ferreting out what looks like a gimmick! Shannon

They are beautiful for sure – fast, sharp and bright. It is amazing how small but heavy they are. I will stick with my 28-70 because it is my least favorite focal length, and the 17-55 crosses so deeply into the 28-70’s range. Anyone looking to buy one, send me a PM, and I will put you in touch with a photographer here in Dallas that has one for sale. Shannon

It is good to see so many photographers with the big bucks to spend! Really, the great thing about glass is it holds its value so much better (now) than camera bodies, which are today’s equivalent of computers that will be devalued by 50-60 percent within 18 months. It’s a sad day in Nikon world (my world) when they finally succumb to lenses exclusive to cameras in their line, but we have been programmed to readily accept evolutionary change (DSLR’s that still look like 35mm’s) over revolutionary changes (like a locking, theft proof, DSLR).

in reply to: Photo website change…. #67129

I believe in separating out your offerings. I went so far as to separate my “retail” photography from my “commercial” photography, and hope the right people find the right site. It can be enticing to combine products, but I am going to agree with Kendal. Now, if I had just known this when my first site went live in 1994! Shannon

PS – linkage can pull all this together for you anyway

Gas up the car Dusty, and let’s hit the road! Shannon

Ok, Texas has beer too. The Brewhouse Brown Ale is spectacular, and the others aren’t too bad either. I haven’t seen the whole long thread, so forgive me if I repeat. Shannon

Unfortunately, weather is still a factor here in Texas.

I still have a few of Andy’s flies … somewhere. They’re microscopic! Takahashi’s images make them look huge. I was guessing silk when it came to those Kim flies. shannon

I’ve heard the “more people are fishing” comment by folks in the business. However, if people travel to your neighborhood to fish, it’s probably a washout. If you are a long way from anyone, and there’s fishing to be had, you will probably see more people fishing and taking fish – just so they can eat (which I am seeing at times). shannon

So my eyes are the only ones that burn (when using neutrogena) like crazy when sweat kicks in?

in reply to: Strange Review: Neutrogena 85+ SPF Sunblock #34416

I have used that exact product, and all I can say is it burns the eyes like crazy. Bad. shannon

in reply to: new wading boots #34092

Korkers are pretty darn good. If I am hiking in, I have those soles on, and switch them out to whatever I want for wading. Drawback – I did lose one sole when it was suctioned off by mud. I never even knew it was gone until I was back at the truck, taking them off. They were the new version too! Shannon

in reply to: PhotoShop 101 help #66826

I think a new update – Adobe “Camera RAW” is out? And it is the opener for your respective version of Photoshop? I don’t know / need because I am no longer on the cutting (expensive) edge of buying the newest greatest as soon as it comes out. shannon

Yeah, change the title and it could help avoid unintended inferences. shannon

Maybe I am a little slow, are you saying if I break one of those bulbs I should shut down my house and evacuate? One of those little bulbs? Shannon
