MemberHello, my name is Gregg and I’m a addict. Yes, I’m powerless over Cherry Garcia, my wife and fly fishing. I live in northern Cal and fish the S.F. bay and Delta stearing clear of Blanton, don’t ask. If any of you ever want to fish the bay or delta please drop me a note and I will make it happen. I own several boats, bay, ocean and drift and have all the gear. You show up, I fish you as my guest, we tell stories. Zack, you are very good at what you do, framing your interview in a way that makes your guest feel at home. The questions are well thought out and the answers are reveling and fresh. Please keep up the good work. Your show made a recent 10 hour road trip fly. Thank you.

Be careful, Bay Shooter, some of us may very well take you up on your offer. You may have not yet noticed, but a good majority of us are Southern boys, and we will show up in your front yard with tents, kegs, and a freshly killed wild pig to throw in the ground!
Great to have ya!!!

MemberHey Dusty,
I’ve lived in Port Aransas and beat on the trout, been kicked out of Shorties more then once. Lived on Red Bluff Ave. in Pasadena and got shot at near Gilly’s. I can handle your crew and welcome you anytime. Did I mention the black tails and gloves in River Oaks? Thats right, debutantes in Houston baby! 😉
My Partner with a little blast and cast. The striper was released, the mallardo’s were grilled.

MemberMy kind of people son. Sounds like the photog is down as well, plus that brother can throw some line, but before I quit my job and head out to Cali, how about some local pics to tempt us?
And getting shot at while in TX bars—The last time I went to Billy Bob’s in Ft. Worth, a cop got shot out front. To all you Northerners, yes, it really is called Billy Bob’s, but has seven bars, an arena for bull riding, and a stage which hosts only the creme de la creme of TX song writers/singers.
What fish do you hunt in Cali?

The Itinerant AnglerHey Gregg –
Did you get a double on ducks and stripers in one day?
Apr 6, 2009 at 6:16 pm #34927gregg holland
MemberZack,
The ducks were dispatched while fishing in the delta last winter. Thousands of ducks and geese use this area during the pacific migration. Â If we come around the bend tossing big bass bugs and find mallards loafing in a tule patch, we roll’m. The striper and the ducks were taken one november morning. The green “tinny” as our brothers down under call them is a 83′ 16′ Klamath Alaskan built locally in San Rafeal. I found the hull on a throwaway trailer full of yard waste bound for the dumps. I offered the guy 300.00 for the boat and he gladly accepted. He didnt need to pay dump fee’s, made 3 hun, and I towed the pile away. I had Klamath prep and paint the boat at there factory in Vallajo. I found the 45 Honda and the Minnkota on Craigslists and built the boat as you see it. It will run in 12 inches of water and with 2 people will cruise at 25 knots. I built the casting platforms forward and aft. We shoot ducks out of this boat and last week trolled up a limmit of halibut for two. Its become my go to boat, perfect for one guy, and handles two with ease.

The Itinerant AnglerThat’s awesome. Â Did it come with the center console too? Â I love the idea of scavenging up a great boat. Â I regularly prowl Craig’s list with some buddies myself, which is one reason I’m offering myself as a deck slave if anyone has any fiberglass projects in Georgia – need to learn more about repair.

A picture is thousand words that takes less than a second while a thousand words is a picture that takes a month.

Sorry Josh, I fell asleep!  😀 I couldn’t imagin fishing without my buckets. Keeping the line protected from of the wind swept decks and off my feet allow me to keep my fly in the water. I wonder how much time is wasted with tangles and foul cast because of interference from the deck. Another big advantage is I never put line back on the reel unless a fish, god for bid gets to the reel. I fish a area then dump the rod into the bucket and run to the next spot, pull the rod out, make one false cast then let it go. Have you ever try to run with line on the deck? >:( Water in the bucket keeps things slick and I betcha I’m fishing 40% more then the guy’s without the unit. Lastly, the rods are never laid down in the boat were they can be stepped on. http://www.mbflyfishing.com/stan.html
