    Nice work Joel.
To me it looks like Riley thinks dad has gone crazy.
I hope you do well, but I hope someone else wins the grand prize. I mean, have you ever kissed your sister? ;D

This is getting very interesting. Nice work to everyone.

    Joel,

You need to spend a little of that vacation time down there with Mike. He has already said he’d take you, that was months ago. We can trade him out trips, you can stay at my house there in TN and Mike can stay with me here, or maybe your cabin.

This post gives a new meaning to the phrase, “fish porn.”

You know, he’s a sicko that way.

He came back humming “Afternoon Delight.”

    Very cool, Steve.

Those boats are really beginning to take off in TN as well. A couple of guys, including Mike that posts here, have them and are running the rivers with great delight. I know you’ll enjoy the rig. Perfect!!

Hey Brian, I see Joel beat me to the post.

I’ll probably be home around the end of the first week of November. Maybe a little later. Depends on how much time I spend making my way south.

That could be due to the spawn but I doubt it; spawning browns tend to go the other way and flush bright colors, and they will spawn until much later in the year.  The full on spawn in the south won’t begin until mid-October.

    Zach

Zach, I won’t be heading home until the first week of November. Mike and I have been talking and I hope we can go back to where you guys went last year and get me some of that. Joel has been invited but not sure if he can make it during that time.

Tell the guys and gals at 4 Rivers I said hi. Fished and stayed with them last year. Good times.

…..Listen…for those of us stuck on the east coast…is there really any bad day in Montana??…..

Seafood-I grew up in the southern foothills of the Rockies. About a dozen or so years ago I was in Albuquerque and made a wrong turn. Wound up in Nashville, TN and stayed. I’ve been missing the west ever since.

Last summer, my buddy Caneybuff and I came out here for a few days to fish and attend a memorial service for Scott Waldie.  As Joel so eloquently stated above, “it rejuvinated my soul.”  I couldn’t get this territory out of my mind or my heart. I longed for this place from the very depths of my being. It was an ache from within.  I went back home after that trip, but my heart stayed here.

Over the winter, I wound up making some major life changes so I could get here. I am very fortunate to have landed this gig. This morning while driving up the mountain and the nearly full moon was setting over the peaks, the only thing I could do was give thanks for being here. No, there is no bad day in Montana.

The only reason Joel posted those pics is to rub it in. I couldn’t go because I had to tend bar at the lodge last night while that lucky moosedog went to chase the fishes. We scouted that hole earlier in the day and I was jonesin’ bad. Nice work buddy.

Thanks for the examples guys. That’s some pretty cool stuff. I may look into learning a little about that this winter.

Soo many wannado’s, soo little time.  ;D

Hey Jay, we fished with the guys at Four Rivers Fishing Company last summer. I booked them because it had been Scott’s shop. A buddy and I went out there for his memorial service on the Ruby and just had a wonderful time. We got to meet the real life versions of many of the characters from the Travers Corners trilogy. What an absolute hoot. I talked to Jane Waldie a few days ago. I was hoping to make it over there last week but just couldn’t get away.

Mike, very sweeet.  Is that the new camera?

Joel, when you get down there we gotta make sure Mike can take you out. He’s the man for the big boys. I can take you wading and show you some dinks, Mike can put you on the HAWGS!!

Cameron-that grill is a sweet setup.  Give us some boat mounted grill porn Mike.

On a side note-Frost here this morning. Light, but frost.

…….. Montana was a great experience for PR and I with the help of Joel Thompson.  I really felt like we touched a part of Montana that was real and not polished for the tourist set….

So, yer sayin’ JT needs to dust up at the cabin?
