MemberTim:
Trout Unlimited is holding it’s annual meeting at the Grand Traverse Resort in mid August and I was wondering whether I should bring along my carp rod and flies.

If you’re still set on trying a spring creek, read these three books before you go:
John Shewey’s Mastering Spring Creeks: A Fly Angler’s Guide
Mike Lawson’s Spring Creeks
Nick Lyons’s Spring Creek

MemberAs a Nikon User, I’ve been quite pleased with Nikon Transfer, View NX and Capture NX, and plan soon to upgrade to the newest versions. Â For post processing, I will sometimes switch over into Photoshop.

MemberFrom a business point of view, making fly lines is very capital intensive.

MemberWe seem to be wandering off track a bit, but in mid range zooms, I started with the Nikon 35-70/2.8, added a 17-55 when I went digital, picked up a 28-70 (aka, the Beast) that I couldn’t pass up, and now use the 24-70 almost exclusively. Â While I got some good shots with the 17-55, I like the image quality of the 28-70 better, and think I will like the 24-70 best of all.
That said, I think Buzz’s advice is right on.

MemberI’d encourage you to tie a range of flies that simulate various “tree droppings.”

MemberI’ll second the praise for the DS2 and agree with you that if nothing else, it makes a great backup rod.
