I’m going on a backpacking/fishing trip to the Gila Wilderness in early/mid May this year, and was wondering if anyone on the forum has any experience fishing that area that they’d care to share. I’m going to be fishing for trout, but am VERY interested in the smallmouth fishery there as well.
Thanks,
Jerry
No recent info, but I’d strongly recommend reading the book Gila Descending: A Southwestern Journey by M.H. Salmon if you can find a copy. It’s an account of a 200 mile descent down the Gila and really gives a flavor for the flora and fauna of the area.
Thanks Mick. I found it (and ordered a copy) on Amazon.com Looks intriguing: the cover sports a dog and a cat in the bow of the boat.
