    Mike,
What all have you heard on these? I’ve had my eye on one, but since they’re fairly new to the market; haven’t read or heard much on them. The $ looks great. I’ve been going back and forth on a Torrent or a Nautilus CCF

Nice photos, that area is great. How high were the tides while you were there? I was there in June and the conditions were tough. Hoping to get back over there in Nov.

I have the RIO outbound short on a TFO Mini Mag. It tosses the big nasties really easy.

in reply to: Fat Tire in Georgia? #36709

It’s all 22’s here in GA for now. Fat Tire does have a diff label than normal that says “Georgia on my Ride”

    Josh –

    Really?!  Sweet.

    Abe –

It was nice to meet you too man.  I was about to post again and say that it was fun meeting folks from the board but you beat me to it.  Thanks for supporting the site with that sweet hat you had on too.  🙂

    Zach

Yep, I picked up some Fat Tire and 1554 (good stuff) at Smyrna World Beverage. The folks there couldn’t believe how fast it flying out. Not sure on their other brews. A buddy picked up their organic wheat at a Kroger. I can’t remember the name and didn’t care for it.

If you’re into the micro/craft brews, check out “The Brickstore” in Decatur. They have an unreal selection. There’s also an upstairs bar just for their Belgiums

Actually, New Belgium got to Georgia last week. Bell’s should be here soon.

I paddle mostly tailwaters and S GA rivers (lots of shoals) and picked up a SeaSense paddle for around $20.

How are the MB trails around these places ,I was thinking of a combo trip. Is this going to be a one day float or a weekend of camping etc.
    MS

There are some decent trails within an hour or so of Atlanta. I haven’t ridden outside GA so I don’t have anything to compare to.

Cool project. What model is that? How are you constucting the decks? I’ve been looking around for something like that that I’ll be able to do some work on. Please post more pics of your progress.

    Good looking ride

in reply to: Gearing for Stripers! #34804

Good luck, I fished the Saluda between Greenwood and Murray some last summer. Saw a lot of big stripes but nothing landed. Did have fun with some gar though. Have you fished around the bridges in the city? My dad has some good stories of catching stripers while he was in school.

in reply to: Favorite Beers #38043

I am liking most of the Dogfish stuff and Lagunitas. I prefer IPA’s and Barlelywine’s

Rumor is that Belle’s and New Belgium will be distributed in GA in June.

Sweetwater just issued a Scottish Ale for Taco Mac’s 30th Anniv called “Ron Burgundy”. Pretty tasty

I am looking forward to hitting my local bass haunt next weekend. Pretty lucky to get access on to a farm where the owner will let me turkey hunt the am, fish the day, and then hunt again till dark. All in a day. Hopefully will make for a good spring.

Turkey and Trout-The makings of a fine post for those of us whom live vicariously!

Hopefully, Turkey season will open later in the month. I am still a novice with these birds but

I have an Ocean Kayak Drifter that I use to fish ponds and rivers in the SE. It’s an SOT that I can easily stand up to fish. While it’s not fast and can be tough to paddle up stream, it’s serves me well in stability and comfort. I’ve never flipped it.

If I fished salt more, I would probably get something faster like an OK Prowler.

The Natives are cool and I like the elevated seat, I just wouldn’t want to have to bail water out all the time while floating a river.

in reply to: Fishing Boats #33467

I am curious to see the comments on this subject also. I am going to be buying my first in the next couple of months and am torn between a CS J16 or going with an jon boat (Rivets vs weld would be the next decision).

Then again, those rigged up gheenoe’s are sweet looking rides.

in reply to: One Person to fish with for One Day #33239

As for a luminary. I would liketo spend the day with Ted Williams at the Buchanan pocket in Islamorada on a falling tide.

Would you be talking fishing, or debating pulling the ball versus going with the pitch?
