MemberMy Teton Tioga has started shedding a few parts over the past couple seasons, and I’m looking at relegating it to backup duty.

Mark SchaferMemberI’m with Mike on the Nautilus. I’ve never had a problem with any Ross reel I’ve sold and I still fish a BG 4 and a Momentum 4,but Ross’s business philosophies are another story all together. Bauer makes some great reels and is trualy a family shop, I had a questions for them last week and when I called Mrs Bauer answered the phone. Some others that you might consider Hatch and Loop both make great stuff.

MemberI really like the #4 Ross Momentum. I have a lot of different reels, and this is one that I have no complaints. Incredible drag.

MemberI have a lamson lightspeed 3.5, nautilus FW 7+, abel super 8 & tibor riptide.
The first two are affordable, super smooth, super lightweight, really durable and are great for reds, bones, bass, stripers
The latter two are on my 9 and 10 and are reels that will be heirlooms and will stop a train… but they cost twice as much
There are a lot of good products out there right now, its all about what you want to spend and what you like

Memberif you are trying to stay in the 400 dollar range, you should look into the Loop reels too.

The Itinerant AnglerAbe –
Pricewise, I’d probably be looking at a used Ross Canyon Big Game 4 and a spare spool.

MemberI like the Orvis LA. They’re not expensive and fairly lite. I’d also consider a Lamson Lite.

If you’re speaking of the Mach series, that was the reel that
convinced me to quit screwing around and buy Tibors.Jan 26, 2010 at 11:55 pm #41931David L. Darnell
Memberanother vote for the Nautilus, sold all my Ross and now have all Nautilus in the quiver. CCF 8 is great, my fishing bud has a few NV’s and we have numerous FW’s, 3, 5 and 7+’s
I’ve had Ross Big Game, Lamson Litespeeds, no problems.

The Itinerant AnglerHey guys –
I’ve seen Orvis’ prototypes for their next saltwater reel, and they are really sweet.

MemberZach, are talking about the Mirage? I listened to an interview with the guy who designed it and it does sound sick. One of the models will take up in excess of 11″ of line with each revolution. That is amazing line pick up.

Tim AngeliMemberThe Mirage is currently available online.

http://www.coltonfly.com/torrent.phpMike,
What all have you heard on these? I’ve had my eye on one, but since they’re fairly new to the market; haven’t read or heard much on them. The $ looks great. I’ve been going back and forth on a Torrent or a Nautilus CCF -
