MemberA couple of friends came down to fish this weekend with me. Took Friday off work and headed North for three days of chasing fins.
We put over 1000 miles on the Rover this weekend in search of some of our Arizona’s best. I won’t put much porn out, I’m going to let those two share the highlights, just a few scenery shots to get the pumps primed. I hope you enjoy the post as much as I enjoyed our time together this last weekend. It was truly a privlidge.
Destination number one: past her prime is what we like to let out-of-towners say.
Winds out of the east, pushed on old Zephyr.

Corey giving-it to the Ferry.

My first attempt at stitching shots together. She’s a long one!

Small bugs and 7(x) are key to this technical fishery.

Up river.

Destination number two:
Revealing Arizona’s gold, a look at one of America’s rarest fish and quite possibly the only high-rez shot of an Apache flushing the toilet on a fly.

It’s the desert you would be Pissed-Off too.

As soon as the other two dump some porn on you, I’ll stick a few more shots out. They both got some sick photos and I want to let them show you guys, truly how talented they are behind the lens -without stealing too much thunder.

MemberAll of them fantastic shots Aaron! This was not just another weekend in the desert! 😉
Wow! Talk about a trip! A huge thank you to Aaron for the invite and playing host! Arizona is an amazing place and a fantastic destination … After this trip I honestly feel like fly fisherman should fish the Ferry at some time! Fly fishing and the desert are both very special for me .. to combine them was unforgettable.
A ton of miles, but every second was worth it…

We were blown away by the scenery!

The scale of the place must be experienced to be understood!

We had some little fish … that we really wanted to look bigger!

and some big fish that needed no help!

Plus, one very special and unique fish. I managed to get one camera, but not in hand… I’ll be going back again soon!

MemberNice shooting guys, fantastic shots! Thanks for the hospitality Aaron, couldn’t have asked for anything better! My door is always open to you.
What a cool trip. I agree with you Cor, everyone should hit Arizona at least once it their lifetime. The scenery is amazing and fish sure are purdy.
I’ll sure never forget this great adventure… broken keys, credit card locksmiths, a bit of boat riggin’, cast and blast morning swimmers, lovely small bait fish, rare natives (fish and people), behemoth Rainbows that are willing to eat a small dry fly (midge cluster)on 7x, Jedi master on the net, etc, etc…. Thanks again man, I had a great time.
Didn’t get the best of shots but I learned a few things and I had a blast in the process…. Hope you enjoy.
The fist session of the trip.. Cor getting after it.

Evening Sunset on Lee’s Ferry

Sunrise… the desert colors are amazing.

Captain Otto at the helm…heading up river.

Reward for driving.. Aaron’s Fish.

Self Portrait – ( my first attempt at HDR b&W, basically a science experiment)

Beers anyone?

Headed back… don’t wanna be late returning the boat!

Arizona Gold…. Self-Portrait

Prize in the last box of Cracker Jacks… She took midge cluster, on 7x….Self-Portrait
