Neal, I have used that on deer hair and elk hair but never foam. I will give it a shot and see how it works out for me. And if that doesn’t work I guess I will resort to the sticky stuff!

Great drawing by the way Neal! ๐Ÿ™‚

I still get nothing but little red x’s. You may want to send Zach a PM as it might be something he can fix.

Douglas, Did Ed Felker help you with the banner design? It looks like his handy work to me.

Felker is a good man and I am sure he will be there as a volunteer. Make sure you say hello from Joel in Montana.

On the upside you’ll be “ahead of your time” the entire time you are here…. and they give you back a day when you go back…. theoretically, with enough travel, you could live forever… perhaps I have discovered the immortality that has defeated so many ๐Ÿ˜€

Also, next time, plan a little time in the north, I can tell by your posts you are someone I could enjoy showing some of my favorite spots too.

Clark you can count on it! I actually have a fairly good connection to the North Island. One of my clients is the architect who designed Cape Kidnappers golf course. He is a great guy and I slowly turning him into a fisherman. With a little luck I might be able to talk him into a business/fishing trip… ::)

The airline tickets have been purchased!!! There is no heading back now!! ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

Things are starting to fall into place very nicely for this trip and I thank all of you who have offered up all the great advice. This will certainly be the adventure of a life time for me! The craziest thing about booking the tickets down is seeing that you arrive two days later than you left but it only takes 23hrs 35mins!!!

I loved the photo of the guys standing in the canoe Aaron. Man, you want to be easy on the hook set when doing that! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Good stuff Mike! It gives me the fishing bug REALLY bad!

Whose drift boat is that in the pictures? If you have access to it I think you need to make Ron Snow row you around weekly until he comes back to Montana!

    Thanks John
They were certainly fun but I get seasick ย :-[
Luckily the pills are getting better.

It is funny you mentioned that Simon because I when I was checking out your pictures I noticed the Simon on your face looks a little more strained with each photo and I thought to myself “I wonder if Simon is a little sea sick”?

I am right there with you when it comes to the rocking of the ocean! I have yet to find pills that work! ๐Ÿ™

Best advise I can give is “don’t go” – the rest of your fishing life will be ruined…….. ;D ;D ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜Ž ::)

    Morsie

One piece of advice not already offered……If you do hook up with Simon……..don’t let him drive……….you’ll never get further than the first bridge ๐Ÿ˜‰

Judging by the fish I have seen Simon with this first bridge statagy must be working! ๐Ÿ™‚

Simon thanks for the heads up on the sale. We are biting the bullet and buying the tickets this week. I figure than we are all set and the rest of the pieces of the puzzle will all fall into place.

Great advice everyone! Keep it coming!

Joel the exchange rate is so much in your favor at the moment its insane. The most expensive part of the trip will be the airfare so if at all possible stay longer, the 2 weeks will go way too quickly.

    Morsie

Morsie I really wish I could stay longer than 2 weeks but we are pushing it a little bit with the 2 weeks as it is. My wife is a school teacher and we are planning this trip around her spring break and her personal days. Plus April is the start of the guide season for me as it is the start of the Skwala hatch. So you can see we don’t have a lot of flexibility in staying longer. Maybe next year…..

Thanks for the info Tim! I will see if I can hunt down that book.

Morsie your pictures are worth a thousand words to me! I love the angles you come at your subjects with the camera. And I also love the fact that the people (including yourself) are smiling! Good stuff!

Keeping coming Morsie. We had rain on top of about 3 feet of snow today and my road could now double as a bobsled run! So it looks like I will be spending a few days at home until it is more safe for travel. :-/

Thanks for all the tips guys! Morsie the only way I won’t go is if it gets to be to much $$$$$$$. It has been a dream of mine to go to New Zealand for a very long time. Everybody I have ever talked to says it is one of the most friendly countries in the world and the scenery will make you never want to leave.

Eric I will touch base with you later on today.

Morsie those are just flat out AWESOME! I LOVE the photo of you holding that monster brown with your fly rod! Damn! Looks like WAY TOO MUCH FUN!!!!!!!

How come no pictures of Simon?

Post as many of those photos as you want Morsie! It help those of us up North get through our days!

Lando what the hell did you do to those fish to make them bleed like that?

Gotta love that flash freeze for locking in the freshness!

    Yes.

You sure have a way with words Lando! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Went ice fishing on New Years day up at our cabin and did quite well but every time I set my beer down to get a picture it would freeze so I gave up on trying to get a good picture.

Nice bonefish Gregg and I like the shot with the rainbow in it too!

Carter them are some nice looking red fish! By the way…how are your waders working out? ๐Ÿ˜‰

in reply to: Contest time ?? #32470

It’s a bad year to be soliciting prizes, guys. ย If anyone has something they want to propose as a prize, please email me and I will see what we have. ย Everything is kinda shook up right now, and plus it’s the dead of winter. ย I was hoping to have this contest in a bit greener time of year, maybe over the summer months.

    Zach

I think the fact that it is a bad year is all the more reason to add a little fun to it by having a little contest. Let’s give people a reason to live damn it! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ And as far as prizes go and soliciting folks for them go I don’t think anyone here is looking for anything big and I am certain that I could throw something into the pot from either the fly shop or my outfitting business and I would think that there are others out there that would do the same.

I do like the idea of having more of a green theme to it Zach. But I think we should give people enough of a heads up so the boys in the southern hemisphere can get after it now while things are green for them! Just a thought.
