Memberthat is some great therapy and good on you for taking the time. It is a very hard transition to convert your life back to some what normal and this type of activity and friendship helps. I spent 2 years in a transition phase in my life back in the mid 90’s and it is no picnic and I know a bunch of guys that have never recovered.

Memberif you have time and keep a watch, you can find a bargain π I bought a 17′ Maverick Mirage for 3000.00 and it was a little rough. I went to work on it and spent about another 3 and it is sweet now. I have seen the same boat, in less nice condition go for 10-12 .

MemberI think for flyfishing , they are awesome. I love the ability to walk all over the deck from back to front. I also love the ride and the way they cut chop. I run a Maverick and my only complaint is storage, I could use a little more, but overall a great boat.

MemberWOW, I am not sure how you can make a decision, 2 days ago you said the 5dll was the best, and now its outdated junk just around the corner from replacement

Membergreat question as I just started using the tuffleye and was experiencing the same residue and thought I was doing something wrong.

MemberI would offer up for consideration that a boga flopping fish is less likely to be “injured” than one held firmly any other way. The boga design allows them to flop freely whilst being held at one pressure point. I have been slapped in the face plenty of times by a boga-ed fish.
I always enjoy the direction boga and scale discussions turn to “sloshing guts,” and “feeling pain.” You just hooked something by the mouth (hopefully), dragged it kicking and screaming backwards from its environment into an environment where it cannot breathe … If we’re really worried that much, best not to catch the fish in the first place?
Agreed !

MemberI have the Dyna King light and I have not had it to be a bother about getting in the way. Love it.

Memberthere is always a cheaper way to get similar products, and I don’t think it matters how often you plan to use it or what type of fish it is. I would say if you desire this type of tool, then you are just as well to get the best one available. I will also say that if you don’t lose it, it will be a lifetime purchase that will operate flawlessly every time you grab it .
Eagleclaw makes flyrods too, and they are a whole lot cheaperjarrod white
MemberI can probably guess one with in a pound, for free.

Memberand if they refuse we will see how their swimming skills are π
But will you attempt to entice a strike with a #2 Clouser swung across their face as they swim by? Β π
I have tried that method, and it is very effective

MemberEthics is common sense and is a touchy subject with most . Lots of opinions of right and wrong.
I think its pretty simple, if I get to a hole first, I will fish it as long as I want and may not move 6 inches in 8 hours,my choice. Why would I even consider leaving the hole until I am ready. If somebody has no other way around I am happy to let them pass, if there are other ways around I would suggest somebody use them, and if they refuse we will see how their swimming skills are πjarrod white
Memberdefinitely has nothing to do with the price tag. I have seen all price range of rods throw an entire fly line with ease.
Please check out the Redington CPX rod also, they are around 300 and they are a great rod, as is the TFO rods as well.jarrod white
MemberMan that is some tough things to deal with right there and I wish you the best and hopefully the punks will get to feel some of those same feelings magnified. I have been in a few tough situations and there is no words to express the fears that come with it, but it always makes you stronger and grow a much stronger appreciation for the little things (big things too) that you have. Good Luck man.

I tried it at the shop, but did not like it at all. I thought the 12-24 was a better build and sharper.jarrod white
MemberI like the Oregon vs. Alabama idea, and I can see that happening (kind of)

MemberOk fellas, looks like my Sooners dont have what it takes (as I predicted)
where do we stand now ? Wisconsin is pretty tough. Texas is outjarrod white
MemberSorry for the bad luck dude, I have had the same misfortune a few times myself. I find bigger rods with sinking type lines require regular checks, and if not, you better bring a couple of extra rods π
