MemberMy first purchase, which I thought long and hard about , was a raft. I have heard it mentioned in this thread that they do wear out. I think at the time a bought mine, it gave like a 5 year life. I ended up owning 3 different rafts, and I finally bought a drifter. I now feel like the drift boat is far superior to the raft, just for the sake of lifetime. I could decide not to put this thing in the water for ten years, and it would be fine.

MemberNeal, I bought the nets on this board. I have 3 of them, and they are great.
I missed the wrapping paper that made it into the pic, but thanks for pointing it out. :-X Definately a violation of the man-cave etiquettejarrod white

MemberI would agree that the traveler is the best vise available in the 150.00 range.

MemberAaron, I have been using a pair similar to these for about 4 years, and I love them.

I find that even when my hands get wet , they still keep them warm. I hate wearing gloves and trying to fish, but when it becomes necessary, these gloves have impressed me time and time again.jarrod white
MemberI have always been a pretty big fan of Orvis products.

MemberFine cuban cigars and camel cigarettes are a weakness of mine also. I would definitely love to quit for my own sake and the sake of my children. I would hate to know any of my kids picked up this nasty addiction because daddy does it. I have never smoked in front of any of my kids. I also know that it does not matter what you buy, or what programs you enter, the only way to stop smoking is to not smoke. I know it sounds easy to the man that has never smoked, but I think its the hardest thing I have ever tried to do.

MemberI am familiar with flex ratings and fast and slow action rods. I just know when you have a client in a drift boat and you are trying to help him cast a 5 wt. fly rod and he says he feels nothing on a back cast, I need to get a little creative. I myself don’t feel the rod loading either, I am just used to it.

MemberTy-
The points you made in your post are why I DONT have a CCI.  It’s not that I don’t think it is a good course to take to learn how to teach the skill of casting/fishing etc.  BUT- I screwed around and got a masters degree in education from the University of Texas and figure that I can teach flycasting (something I have been doing since I was a kid) with those credentials as well as I could with a CCI.  I think if you need to be taught how to teach it’s a good tool, but not necessary for all.Just my opinion—

Phil, I agree. I think it’s ok if somebody wants to pursue the certification, but I personally think it is unnecessary.
